Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee

Chapter 30 Running Away From My Mates.

I walked out from behind Wolvin to get a better look at his face and ask him to explain.

“Here! I have the text conversation from him on my phone,” Caspian intervened, turning the screen so I could see. It was a group chat where all my husbands had been speaking ill of me. Caspian quickly pulled it back, preventing me from reading what they had been saying.

Nevertheless, I managed to catch a glimpse of what Wolvin had said.

“I will make her accept me, and then I will steal her father’s crown and banish both of them from the pack,” I exclaimed, voicing it aloud, while keeping my eyes fixed on Wolvin, who chose to ignore me.

“It was just a joke. We were all discussing our intrusive thoughts,” he mumbled, still avoiding eye contact.

“Oh, so that’s essentially what you desire. Once you have the crown, you will let your intrusive thoughts prevail,” I nodded in understanding, sensing a slight burning sensation in my heart.

The fact that he could deceive me so easily, despite having revealed his intentions towards me on multiple occasions, only clarified one thing.

That I’m the desperate one here. “No! Just because we’re discussing something doesn’t mean we intend to act on it. Bellamy and Caspian often spout nonsense, so I thought I would join in,” Wolvin explained, thinking that would suffice as an explanation for his behavior.

“Right! The two of them are also plotting to use me, so you want to use me too?” I observed his flinch as I spoke.

“I won’t bother explaining myself any further from here. Think what you want,” he grumbled under his breath, and without waiting for me to ask anything else, he walked towards the exit.

“Ah! Sweet romance is dead,” Bellamy chuckled, causing me to clench my jaw. They seemed to be having a lot of fun at my expense, laughing at my misery.

“Now, stop crying like a baby and get ready for the big dinner. I don’t want to look like an idiot because you’re undressed,” Caspian jumped on the bed, holding the invitation card.

My dad didn’t even bother to call me once. He just sent his beta out to invite us. No wonder these men had no fear of mistreating me now; all they had to do was keep me safe.

“I’m not going to any dinner,” I declared, discreetly wiping away my tears.

The three of them stopped what they were doing and became attentive when they heard me.

“Hey, you don’t get to decide. The alpha king asked us to accompany him, so you are coming with us,” Bellamy snapped at me.

“Yeah! We need to be there and get introduced to the others. You cannot ruin this for us,” Caspian argued, giving me threatening and angry glares.

“I said I am not going. You want to go, that’s your decision,” I folded my arms over my chest, feeling it was my turn to stand up to them after being deeply upset.

“What the hell is wrong with you!” Emre hissed, placing his h*ands on his waist, his eyes fixed on me.

I knew they wanted to get close to my father, but if I stayed behind, they would have to skip the dinner to protect me at home. That’s probably why they were accepted as my mates; otherwise, why would they get paid?

“Are you listening to her? Make her stop playing games, or I will lose my control with her,” Bellamy pointed his f*inger at me, asking the others to warn me.

“Don’t worry, Bellamy. She will come with us, or else we’ll demand what we deserve from this marriage,” Caspian hissed, making intense eye contact with me and then slowly lowering his h*and to t*ouch himself above his p*ants.

I immediately looked away.

“I don’t think she can handle four at once,” now that Emre knew their demand would be the death of me, he went along with Caspian.

“What makes you think you can demand something like that, and I will just accept it?” I questioned, curious about why they were so confident about it.

“All we have to do is speak to your father and his sidechick. Once Lord Bernard and Monique realize you are not fulfilling your side of the deal, you’ll hear from them,” Caspian explained, making me realize they had already been informed by Monique that they could have their way with me. That’s what she had encouraged me to do as well.

“So, either it’s dinner or —,” Caspian licked his l*ips, his eyes scanning my body, making me feel like I was standing n*aked in front of him.

I never responded, and they took it as my defeat. I was beginning to feel very lonely with everyone around me having an agenda to stay close.

Hours later, Wolvin returned, and despite thinking he might come to talk to me, he just went to sleep as if he hadn’t done anything wrong. I felt like a fool for believing that any of them could be trusted.

I watched them all sleep peacefully, dreaming of attending a dinner with my father.

“I’ll see how much you’ll enjoy this dinner,” I said under my breath, grabbing my bag with a few dresses, other necessities, and one silver dagger from Wolvin’s collection.

“This is what you get for playing me,” I smirked to myself, purposely leaving his bag open. I had decided to run away.

My heart pounded against my chest as I tiptoed across the creaking floorboards. Moonlight streamed in through the curtains, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The soft snores of my slumbering husbands echoed in the silence.

I rolled my eyes at them and kept pushing.

Fear mingled with thrill as I reached for the doorknob. I had never done anything like this before, and the weight of my outrageous actions bore heavily on my conscience. After I return, I will face their wrath.

The cool night air greeted me as I stepped outside, sending shivers down my spine.

I couldn’t help but glance back at the darkened house, my mind filled with conflicting emotions.

“It’s what they deserve,” I muttered to myself.

The woods loomed before me like a mysterious labyrinth, their towering trees reaching out like ghostly specters.

As I ventured deeper into the wilderness, my fear began to ebb, replaced by a growing thrill. The night embraced me perfectly, wrapping me in its ethereal cloak.

My senses sharpened, every rustle and crackle becoming amplified in the silent night. I had to stay aware of my surroundings.

I kept going at the thought of getting as far away from them for now as possible. My feet stumbled over roots and rocks, and my body yearned for rest. I was just a human without my wolf. Just a long and tired some journey was never in my interests before.

I just wanted to stay out until the day of the dinner passed.

It would have been satisfying to witness their misery as they faced my father, failing in their duty to take care of me. After hours of walking and purposefully leaving my scent scattered around to confuse them, I finally arrived at the mountains.

I used to frequent this place as a child. Since I had never walked such a long distance before, exhaustion began to set in, and hunger started to gnaw at me.

Just as I decided to take a seat and rest, an old lady appeared seemingly out of thin air.

“Hey,” it struck me as peculiar to encounter someone in the mountains, so I decided to greet her with kindness, given her warm smile.

“You’re Genevieve Swan!” she exclaimed, approaching me.

Oh, no!

Why did I foolishly believe she wouldn’t recognize me? It seemed like everyone knew who I was or at least knew of me.

“Yes, I’ve come out for a short hike,” I fibbed, desperately hoping she wouldn’t go around spreading the news that she caught the princess fleeing from her mates.

“Right! Why don’t you join me then? You appear thirsty,” she offered, her smile still fixed upon her face.

Something about her began to unsettle me. The way her eyes lingered on the pendant around my n*eck made me realize that she had sensed something peculiar.
