Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee
Chapter 43 They Want To Punish Me. (Genevieve Swan)
“What is it?” my dad questioned, devoid of any enthusiasm regarding his daughter receiving attention. I could sense his anger toward me. Until now, he had shown me the extent of suffering I would endure if I went against him. Even his subtle actions, like making Ron attend the lunch and forgiving Kit, proved that he could silently sabotage my life.
Summoning all my strength, I held a glass of wine aloft and called for celeb*ration. “I must congratulate my dear father on selecting the best life partner for himself.”
My father’s face lit up upon hearing my words. He instantly turned his h*ead to Monique, who didn’t appear too thrilled but forced a smile in my father’s direction.
“Throughout my life, I have witnessed my father’s selflessness in taking care of everyone. He has shown me how one person’s strength can uplift their pack. He has been the epitome of true strength and power,” I continued praising my father, oblivious to the uneasiness creeping into my mates. At that moment, my focus wasn’t even on them.

I simply knew I had to make amends with my father.
“And then, I realized he had made the right choice. Thanks to Monique, who has always been there for us. She stood by our side and considered us family. After my father informed me of his acceptance, I couldn’t join them in celeb*rating the good news due to my health issues. But I am here today to share this special moment with my father and my mother!” As I pointed at Monique and referred to her as my mother, I witnessed a bright smile grace my father’s l*ips. He was happy, but why wasn’t Monique too delighted?
I was certain she wanted me to accept her as my mother, so why did her happiness seem forced?
I forced a smile onto my l*ips, though no amount of pressure from my father could ever make me truly accept Monique as my mother. The words spoken and the actions taken against me were not easily forgotten.
“Ah! I knew my daughter would be happy for me,” my dad commented, holding Monique’s h*and as if to reassure her that my actions from the previous night were merely a result of my excitement.
“Now that my father is pleased with me, let’s enjoy the lunch,” I declared, and as my father beamed at me, I noticed the fading expressions on the faces of the others. Even Ron appeared disturbed. Kit cast a sad glance at her mother, silently expressing her discontent about my father siding with me again.
It was a peculiar battle I was fighting, but it wouldn’t be the first time I had played this game. My life had always been like that. I had to act a certain way to keep my father happy and prevent him from leaving me at the mercy of those who despised me.
“Try this, it’s delicious,” Kit whispered to Ron, sliding the plate of lasagna toward him.
“I’m not in the mood for lasagna,” Ron replied with a t*ouch of attitude, his gaze shifting to my face. Kit followed his stare and let out a grunt upon realizing who he was watching.
The rest of the lunch revolved around Caspian and Bellamy discussing their experiences as alphas and how adept they were at maintaining peace in their fallen packs.
My dad seemed impressed by their stories. Yet again, Wolvin was completely ignored amidst all the family gossip.
“Thank you for coming and sharing those beautiful words,” my father held my h*ands and shared a smile with me. It was time for us to leave, so he came out to bid me goodbye. Monique stood behind him, unresponsive.
She hadn’t uttered a word to me. This was unlike her usual self. She used to stick by my side and engage in conversation, although not pleasant, but now that she had taken my mother’s place, I noticed she was keeping her distance.
Changing relationship dynamics are the worst.
“Even if I wasn’t feeling well today, I had to come here. I couldn’t miss congratulating my father. Now that she is here to take care of you, I can peacefully live with my mates,” every word that escaped my m*outh was a lie. I was blatantly lying just to please my father, and it was working. However, the more I pleased him, the angrier those around me became.
“I’m sure you were surprised to see Ron and Kit at lunch. Actually, I only invited them so they could witness my daughter’s happiness without them,” Dad lied. That wasn’t the real reason he brought them here. He simply wanted to exert a little pressure on me, and he succeeded. I’m sure he didn’t know that was why I was being nice, but whatever he had planned worked in his favor.
“I know. The moment I saw them, I knew my dear dad wanted them to suffer while seeing me happy,” I flashed my dad a huge smile, my cheeks beginning to ache from the forced smiles throughout the lunch.
“Have fun, my dear,” my dad k*issed me on the cheek before we parted ways. As I sat between my mates in the car, I could feel the tension rising.
Bellamy drove, while Wolvin didn’t even glance back at me. Caspian and Emre were the main problem, continuously exchanging mocking remarks.
I knew things would turn ugly once we arrived home.
“You know, some people deserve the trouble they get,” Caspian spoke to Emre, fully aware that I was seated between them, feeling awkward as they communicated through me.
“True, you can never trust certain people,” Emre muttered.
I sighed and leaned back, only for Bellamy to abruptly halt the car in the middle of nowhere.
It happened so unexpectedly that I couldn’t comprehend why he would do such a thing. At first, I thought the car had broken down, but that wasn’t the case.
“Step out and walk in front of our car,” Bellamy turned around and locked eyes with me, giving me an order. My jaw dropped as I realized what he was trying to make me do.
“No!” I shook my h*ead.
“Caspian!” Bellamy called his name, and he knew what he had to do. The moment he heard his name, I understood I was about to suffer.
