Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee

Chapter 82 He Loves Someone Else (Genevieve Swan)

“What’s happened to him now?” I grumbled, and I noticed that Caspian was giving me a disapproving look.

“As though you’re unaware,” he remarked before he also strode off into the woods behind Emre. I could only imagine that they were intending to let off steam by running around in the night.

With Bellamy and me being the only ones left, he gazed at me with a tinge of sadness.

“We come to a decision, but the moment they’re in front of you, you simply can’t choose?” he muttered quietly, his eyes fixed on me with an intent glare.

“But-” I began, attempting to explain why I couldn’t make a choice, when he raised his palm, signaling me to stop, and then dashed after the other two into the woods. So, the three of them were quarreling, yet somehow, I found myself cast as the villain?

“Don’t succumb to their threats and pressure, princess!” Just as I thought I was left on my own, one of my mates who hadn’t even seemed interested in being part of the discussion about who should go first, spoke up.

I observed Wolvin looking at me and then steadily advancing in my direction. “Don’t exhaust yourself for their sake,” he added, “it’s truly unfortunate that they’re even having this conversation.”

I couldn’t help but concur with him. He stood tall before me, hands still in his pockets, exuding a calm demeanor. “Perhaps that’s how mates react when sharing their mate,” I tried to defend them. After all, anyone would desire to be the first to be with their mate.

Maybe I would feel envious too if one of them didn’t choose me and instead picked someone else over me.

“Hmm! But then again, they themselves aren’t virgins, so why must you maintain a particular image? Why is the first time so significant?” He shrugged, displaying his refusal to comprehend their perspective.

“Well, it’s easy for you to say because you don’t care,” I replied somewhat foolishly, averting my gaze as he focused intently on my face.

“Tell me then, how would you respond in such a situation?” I indirectly inquired of him. I was curious, given his grand statements.

“I don’t care about being the first,” he shrugged, causing me to roll my eyes, as I found it h*ard to believe him. There’s no way he’d never develop feelings for someone to the extent that he’d desire to be their first. However, he added, “I would desire to be her final one.”

As he leaned in close to my face and whispered those words, I felt my breath hitch in my t*hroat. The depth of his intentions regarding his beloved mate caught me off guard.

“Do you love someone?” I couldn’t help but ask him. That question had been lingering in the back of my mind for a while now. Ever since he declined to be part of the pact, I had been considering the possibility that it might be because he was already in love with someone. “I do,” and with that straightforward response, he dashed my hopes.

I was foolish to even wish for him to feel something for me, as if the three weren’t sufficient. Or perhaps it’s because none of them had shown genuine love for me.

Yes, they demonstrated care and they enjoyed being intimate with me. But that never made me feel particularly special. What was it about their current attempts to show affection that made me hesitate? I didn’t feel special. “Is that the reason you didn’t want to be a part of the pact?” I found myself naively probing.

“That’s correct,” he nodded once more, exuding confidence as he adjusted his posture and regarded me with eyes that held no affection or infatuation for me.

“Hmm, well then. I’m glad for you,” I mustered a smile on my l*ips and offered a slight nod of my head.

“Thank you,” he responded, once again displaying no interest. But at least now I would cease my complaints about why he didn’t regard me in the same way the others did. That’s when I spotted the three emerging from the woods once more, and my frown deepened.

I had assumed they would be absent for a while, yet it seemed they had only gone into the woods to devise a plan. The moment they approached me, their faces lit up, and I sensed that something unfavorable was headed my way. My intuition proved correct.

“We’ve devised something,” Emre began, Wolvin once again slipping away after giving them an eye roll for their evident effort. My heart was already racing, and now they had surfaced to cause me more trouble.

Anything but the decision being in my hands. I didn’t wish to be the cause of agitation for the others.

“What if I were to tell you that I have an idea, and with that, you won’t be held responsible for deciding who goes first?” Caspian murmured, snapping his fingers in excitement over whatever he had conceived. I pondered it briefly before casually shrugging. As long as they weren’t directing their conflict towards me, I was content with the notion. However, I noticed Wolvin tilting his head behind them, as though he understood their intentions. “Sure, as long as I’m not the one blamed,” I shrugged. It seemed like a good idea, considering I was truly struggling to make a choice.

“How about a competition for it?” Caspian proposed, causing a moment of silence to descend upon the group.

So they were planning to hold a contest? That’s what I initially assumed. But it turned out to be something more intricate than that. “Go ahead, have a match,” I responded casually, not delving too deeply into the implications. Yet, the expressions on their faces at that moment sent a wave of fear through me. Clearly, it wasn’t going to be as straightforward as a typical match, as I now suspected.

“No! You need to grasp the nature of the match we’re proposing/’ Emre interjected, and my frown deepened. My heart did a flip inside my chest when I caught sight of Caspian’s smirk.

What sort of match were they hinting at?
