Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee Chapter 146

Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee (Book 3)

Chapter 146 The Tripping Mate (Genevieve Swan)

We had returned home, and I had been waiting for Bellamy’s arrival ever since. Dinner was quiet because Dad wasn’t in the pack, and Monique had left to attend to him wherever he had gone.

I didn’t want to leave my bedroom at night because of Ariel, but that’s what made me worry about Bellamy. If he returned and she jumped on him, would he melt?

“Are you alright?” Emre asked when he noticed that I had changed sides in the bed once again. It was a huge bed, so we could all fit in easily without any trouble.

With Wolvin on the floor, there was even more space for us.

“It’s just that… I feel like something has been bothering Bellamy,” I said as I rested my cheek on the back of my h*and.

“You’ve noticed it too?” Emre seemed surprised, and that surprised me. I thought maybe I was overthinking things, but when Emre confirmed that he had noticed it too, I felt compelled to discuss it with him.

“What’s going on? It’s not like he’s never been to this pack before. And all those conversations he was having…” I paused, realizing that Emre had something to say. “About Henbane, right? Yeah, I found him wandering around the mansion, and when I questioned him, he said he could smell some Henbane around,” Emre replied, his eyebrows furrowing as he recalled the interaction.

“Well, in all fairness, Henbane is very precious, and if someone were to sell it, they could make big money,” Caspian, who I thought had fallen asleep, chimed in out of nowhere.

“But why is he so interested in Henbane?” I questioned, wondering what was going on with Bellamy.

“If anyone was sick and needed it, he would have let us know, right?” Emre added, and I agreed with him. We had reached a point where we could share that much with each other. Then, another thought popped into my head.

“Do you think he’s thinking of stealing it?” I asked Caspian, who shrugged.

“It’s possible. I don’t know, but if I get a chance, I would steal it and sell it for a good price,” Caspian grinned cheekily, and I rolled my eyes at his comment. “I don’t know what he’s up to, and it’s worrying me. Look, I get it that you guys can act like foolish idiots, chasing your own tails most of the time–” I jumped up to sit between them and only paused when I saw their faces change colors and noticed their stern looks. “No offense, but that’s fine as long as it’s not something you guys are doing in the mansion. If my father catches any of you doing something wrong here, he won’t think twice before–”

I had to pause again because Caspian rose to his elbows and brought his face to my level, silencing me with a hushed tone.

“Before kicking out the possible heroes who are willingly putting their lives on the line for his beautiful daughter’s safety?” he whispered, his eyes stealing glances at my l*ips.

“Hey, let her finish,” Emre frowned and slapped Caspian on the chest, breaking our eye contact.

“Dude! We were having a moment,” Caspian complained, leaning back on his pillow and looking genuinely bothered. “I will say, let’s give him sometime. Don’t worry too much about him. If he does something stupid, we’ll be there to sort things out and save his ass,” Emre stated with a hint of mild affection, his eyes still fixed on mine. The way he gently placed his h*and on my t*high and gave it a reassuring squeeze told me he would take care of everything, which brought me comfort.

“Now come on, lie down,” Emre added, and Caspian scoffed at him.

I nodded and lay down between the two of them. However, I couldn’t sleep. They had already drifted into a deep dream world while I stayed awake, worrying about Bellamy.

As midnight passed, my anxiety grew.

Where could he be? Had he decided to spend the night with Ariel?

“Huh,” I scoffed under my breath. After spending hours in bed, I decided to sneak out and take a stroll around the mansion.

I had only just reached the terrace of the floor I was on when I looked down and saw Bellamy walking into the mansion.

Great!

He was home. Even though I knew Ariel and her family had moved to the second floor, and to reach the ground floor, I would have to cross their floor, I didn’t care. I rushed to my feet and found myself on the second floor. It was pitch black, so I hurried downstairs. However, by the time I arrived on the ground floor, I realized Bellamy was not there.

It concerned me.

After looking around the kitchen and the foyer, I lingered near the basement door, feeling uneasy about finding it open. It was typically shut tightly, but tonight was different. Bellamy was also missing.

As I started to climb the stairs leading to the basement, I suddenly saw Bellamy rushing upstairs. He only stopped when he realized I was in his way.

“Bellamy, what were you doing in the basement?” I asked with a smile on my l*ips, though I was genuinely curious.

“Umm! I thought it was–It was so dark that I thought I was heading upstairs,” he laughed while scratching his n*eck.

“You thought you were going upstairs while rushing down?” I questioned, and I noticed him rub his eyes and then lose his balance.

“Oh, did I say that? Silly me,” he let out a small laugh before clearing his throat. “I guess I’m too drunk.”

He gently patted my shoulder as he walked past me in slow, unsteady steps. “Are you going to support me, or do you want your drunk mate to fall down and lose his memory?” he joked as he reached out his h*and for me to hold.

I complied, but despite his act of being drunk and wasted, I knew he wasn’t. He was completely sober and in his senses. So why did he lie to me? What was he trying to do in the basement, the place where my father’s study was located?
