Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K
Chapter 203
Both Arthur and Lia were already pretty disturbed because they hadn’t been able to contact Hawk. Arthur let out a growl, but Lia stepped forward and controlled him by t*ouching his forearm.
“Maggie,” she said calmly, stifling her irritation. “We already told you that we would be very busy. You shouldn’t have waited.” Maggie glared at Lia and for a moment Lia thought that her eyes had flickered amber, but it was for such a brief moment that she thought she was imagining.
Clenching her fists, Maggie gave her a t*ight-lipped smile. “I am sorry,” she said in a controlled voice that sounded eerie as if disembodied. “I shouldn’t have waited.” Then she peeked behind Arthur. “Hawk hasn’t come with you?” she asked enthusiastically.
Arthur’s jaws clenched. He ignored her completely and walked past her to open the door.

When he entered inside, Maggie said to Lia, “I finished the classes at 5 PM and since then I have been waiting for you.” Her demeanor changed 180 degrees. It was as if she was never angry. “If it’s okay with you, can we start early today? And dinner is on me!”
Lia wasn’t in a mood to teach her. “I really won’t be able to do it today, Maggie,” she said in an exasperated voice. “Let’s do it tomorrow.”
A frown appeared on her forehead as her eyes grew misty. “Lia, I have my test in two days. I know I am a terrible student, but had that not been the case, I wouldn’t have come to you. Please help me. If I don’t get good grades in this test, my parents are going to withdraw me from the college.” She clasped her h*ands in front of her. “I beg of you. Please help me.” A tear rolled out of her eye and Lia stopped the urge of rolling her eyes.
With a lot of difficulty, she said, “Okay, but I won’t be able to spare more than half an hour.” She really wanted Maggie to get off her back as soon as possible.
“Thank you!” Maggie chirped. Before Lia could open the door, she turned and opened the door and entered the house. She inhaled deeply and a smile came on her face. “I love the scent in your house.”
Lia hurried inside and deposited her bag on the table. She noticed that Arthur had already gone to take a bath. “Let’s hurry up,” she goaded Maggie. “What is it that you want help with today?”
Maggie came to sit on her opposite side. She took her Managerial Economics book out and whined, “I can’t get through chapter five and our professor is already on chapter twelve!”
“You haven’t got past chapter 5?” Lia was shocked. The girl was really dense.
Maggie shrugged. “I was thinking if you could just flag the important pages, I will read them. In the meantime, if you like I can make us some coffee.”
Though Lia was surprised that Maggie was trying to be so friendly that she was offering to make coffee in her kitchen in just a day of knowing her, she was too tired to argue with her. All she wanted was to flag the pages and send her off. She nodded and Maggie jumped up with a grin.
As Lia got busy marking pages for her with post-it slips, writing small notes on them, Maggie went to the kitchen. When she returned, Lia was on seventh chapter.
“You’ve made four cups of coffee!” Lia breathed, taking one from her.
“Yes,” Maggie said with a soft smile. “I am sure Arthur and Hawk would also love to have one each.”
“Hawk isn’t here,” Lia mumbled under her breath.
“Oh!” Maggie sounded utterly surprised. “Where is he?” she asked, keeping his cup aside.
Lia shrugged, flipping a page. She furiously began to write notes and was on chapter eight when Arthur came down.
“I have made coffee for you. Please have it,” Maggie said in a dulcet voice, giving him the cup.
He mumbled a thank you to her, taking the cup. Then he sat next to Lia and busied himself with his phone. When Lia looked at him with a question in her eyes, he shook his head slightly with pursed l*ips. Lia took a deep breath in and continued with her work. By chapter nine, her coffee finished and she eyed the fourth cup. She leaned forward to take it when Maggie grabbed it and removed it from her reach. She growled, “This is for Hawk.”
It was the second time in the evening that Lia didn’t like her behavior. She stared at Maggie and she thought she saw a craziness in her eyes. However, the next moment, Maggie’s expression softened. It was like she was someone else. “I am sorry!” she giggled. “You may take this. I will make another for Hawk.”
“No, it’s fine,” Arthur almost snarled. “You don’t have to do anything. And if you are done, Lia and I have to go somewhere,” he said rudely. He was hating every precious minute that she was wasting. He really wanted to go and find Hawk.
A dejected look appeared on Maggie’s face. “I am so sorry for keeping you all here because of me. It’s just that I am really desperate. I am pushed to the corner.” She shook her head. “You won’t be able to understand my problem.”
Arthur grunted at her pitiable situation, rolling his eyes. Lia nudged him with her elbow, asking him to behave himself. “I will finish this off soon,” she said as a way of consoling him.
“Arthur?” Maggie said. “I’ll make dinner for all of you as a way of compensation.”
“What’s it with you and lunch or dinner?” Arthur shot at her, snapping. “We will eat outside!”
Maggie was so hurt by his sudden burst of anger that she flinched. “I am sorry,” she murmured, clutching her mug t*ightly in her h*ands.
Lia shook her head. She knew that she had to hurry before Arthur actually exploded. That was the last thing she wanted because college was a place where anything could turn into a wild rumor. He got up from there and went back to the bedroom while Lia finished marking all the chapters. “Here!” She closed the book and h*anded it to her. “Make sure that you see all the notes I have written and read the book accordingly.”
“Thank you!” Maggie replied, taking the book, but her eyes were directed upstairs. “When will Hawk return?” she asked. When Lia didn’t answer, she turned her gaze to her. “Oh, I think I saw a lizard there,” she giggled and then put the book i*nside her bag. She lowered her voice and said, “I know I am pushing you too h*ard, but you guys can go and have your dinner out while I can wait for you here or I can come back.”
“What?” Lia rasped, shocked at her proposition.
“I know I am sounding so desperate, but Lia you have to understand that—”
Lia put her h*ands up. “I understand that you have a problem back at home. So why don’t we do one thing?” she said, placing her h*ands on her h*ips as Maggie looked at her curiously. “You should go back home and when I return, I will call you again. How about that?”
For a second, Maggie narrowed her eyes as if judging her words, then she grinned. “Okay, that sounds great. As soon as you are here, call me. Tomorrow is a Saturday and I have only one class. Maybe, if you allow me, I can sleep at your place and go to the college from here.”
Lia’s jaw dropped. She had never seen such clingy people in her life. And now she was getting on her nerves. She let out a rough exhale. “We will see!”
“Thanks Lia!” Maggie cooed. “You are god-sent!” She stashed her books inside the bag. “Umm… can I use the bathroom please?”
Lia poked her t*ongue in her cheek out of pure exasperation. “Sure,” she said. “It’s there.” She pointed upstairs towards their bedroom because that was the only bathroom there was in the house.
Maggie rushed up. When she opened the door, her gaze met with that of Arthur’s who looked utterly shocked. “What are you doing here?” he shouted.
She flinched. “I wanted to use the bathroom,” she croaked.
Arthur narrowed his eyes as she rushed to the bathroom. Lia came after her and when Arthur gave her a questioning look, she put her h*ands up in the air, peeved as hell.
Maggie came out after a long time. “Thanks,” she said in a low voice and hurried out.
When they heard the door closing after her, Lia huffed.
“This one is piling on us!” Arthur growled. “You don’t have to be sweet with her, Lia. She seems like a nut case.”
“I swear. She wants to come back after we have our dinner. I said that I will call her if we are on time.” Saying that she went to the bathroom.
“Is she f*ucking mad?” Arthur spat, entering the bathroom after her. “She has stalking tendencies or what?”
Lia laughed, opening the shower. “Pass me the shampoo.”
Arthur picked up her shampoo and passed her. “Where is mine?” he asked, searching for it. “It must be in the cupboard,” she replied lazily as she lathered her hair with the shampoo. “Nope, it isn’t there. I just bought it yesterday. It is Hawk’s favorite.” Lia rinsed her hair. “Check it again.” She soaped her body.
“Nope,” Arthur said after searching for it again.
And that made Lia suspect. “Has she—”
Suddenly, a message came on Arthur’s phone. His m*outh dropped to the floor. “It’s from Hawk.”
“What’s it about?” she asked, rinsing her body.
Pine Pack.
Alpha Brom’s manor.
“Why have they postponed the meeting?” Brom growled at his Beta, Trig.
“Alpha Brom,” Trig said. “The Elders are not available. “They can come only on Sunday.”
Brom drank the remaining whiskey from his glass and ordered his wife through their mind link to give him more. “Have you informed other packs as well?” he asked.
Trig nodded. “Yes Alpha, I have.”
“This is a futile exercise, Brom,” his wife, Kayla, said gingerly. “Alpha River and Alpha Hunter are married and have merged their packs on mutual consent. So why would-”
“Shut up!” he snarled at her. “Keep your head in your home and not in my affairs. If you like I can f*uck you right now, not that you will be able to bear another pup for me,” he scorned.
Kayla flinched as her cheeks flamed. She lowered her head and hurried to get him a fourth fill of whiskey.
