Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K
Chapter 237
“I want to go with you,” Keya said to her brothers.
“You are not going there,” Alpha Ranger growled before her brothers could speak anything.
“I will!” she snapped.
Ranger closed the gap between them and grabbed her by her waist. He pulled her closer to his c*hest possessively. “It is too dangerous for you,” he said, his c*hest rising and falling as he lowered his n*eck to see her and she craned her n*eck to see him. “That place gave me terrible vibes. Who knows what lies in that house?”

She placed her h*and over his c*hest and said, “Ranger, I want to go and see it. It is important. It is after all my pack and I should know what dangers lie within it.”
After their stare contest, his l*ips curled up as one of his h*ands came up and stroked her hair. “Speaking like a true Luna.” She blushed like a rose in summer. Her l*ips parted and the world around her faded. A cough snapped them out of the reverie.
“Ahem, what is going on?” Lachlan asked, c*ocking his head with narrowed eyes.
Immediately, Ranger stepped away from her. To Keya’s surprise even he blushed slightly and she found him so cute that if her brothers were not watching them like hawks, she would have planted a k*iss on his l*ips. “N-nothing,” Ranger stuttered in all seriousness. “She shouldn’t go,” he said, trying to cover his awkwardness. He glanced at Vera who was leaning against the door frame with a raised eyebrow. Grisham was sitting on his bed with a gaping m*outh and Lachlan was eyeing them suspiciously.
“I agree that she shouldn’t go,” Lachlan replied. “But what is going on between you?”
Vera suppressed a laugh by pursing his l*ips while Grisham still sat there watching them with wide eyes.
Keya scratched her n*eck. “It’s just that Alpha Ranger is highly concerned. Nothing much,” she said with a rough exhale.
“Oh really?” Grisham got up as if recovering from the shock of his life.
She shrugged, trying to act nonchalant but her b*ody gave her away. Though she had stepped away from Alpha Ranger, she was still standing in front of him as if trying to protect him.
Grisham crossed his arms across his c*hest. “Now let me ask the main question. How come you went there with Alpha Ranger? Did he ask you to?”
“Hell no!” she shot back. “I went there voluntarily.”
“So how did you come to know that he was going there?” Grisham asked his next question.
She blinked her eyes several times, l*icked her dry l*ips and then blinked again because had no answer. Then she changed her demeanor and shouted at him, “You just keep reading in between lines. There is nothing and stop overthinking!” She stepped back, t*ouching Ranger’s body, scared of her brother’s reaction. At the same time, Keya was startled by her reaction too. She had never felt this protective about anyone in her life, not even her little brother Aidan and that realization scared the s*hit out of her.
Grisham and Lachlan exchanged glances as both of them became quiet at her outburst. It looked like Lachlan was suppressing his laughter while Grisham was trying to suppress his shock and anger.
As if to rescue their awkward situation, Vera pushed himself from the door’s frame and said, “So when are we going to raid the house?” His question brought them back to the present situation.
“How about we do it tonight?” Ranger suggested, impatient to go there.
“We are not going anywhere near that house tonight,” Lachlan said.
Suddenly the door opened and Hunter walked in. “Alpha Hunter?’ Ranger said, bowing to him.
When Keya looked questioningly at her brothers, Grisham said, “I had mind-linked him.” Hunter gave a t*ight nod to Ranger, looked at Keya who was still standing in front of him and then went to his grandsons. Grisham told him about what happened at Lola’s house.
Hunter’s jaws clenched. “We should raid it tonight. Tomorrow will be too late.”
“But grandpa-” Grisham protested.
Hunter raised his h*and up. “I know you are thinking that we will swoop in when the pack members are busy with tomorrow’s match, but Lola is now aware that someone saved Vera. We can’t give her more time.” He started exiting the door. Just before leaving he turned over his shoulder and looked at Ranger. “You too will come with us.”
“Me too!” Keya squeaked. She didn’t realize but her h*and shot at Alpha Ranger’s h*and and grabbed it. Her grandfather didn’t miss it. With a hint of a smile that disappeared the moment it appeared, he said, “Okay, but be careful and Alpha Ranger—” he nodded. “This is going to be your additional test—to keep Keya safe.” Ranger’s b*ody stiffened. “Yes Alpha,” he said with all sincerity.
“See you all in the main hall in half an hour!” Saying that Hunter exited, leaving the young crowd. Anxiety hung in the air as Grisham and Lachlan went to change their clothes.
In less than half an hour they were all in the main hall. Beta Gina and Asher were also there. Hunter said, “Do not reveal this operation to anyone. This might be a useless sting.”
In the middle of the night, they crossed the castle’s southern gardens to reach the dilapidated drawbridge. “Goddess!” Hunter rasped looking at it. “Remind me to renovate it!”
“We have to keep to the shadows,” Grisham said, pulling his hoodie up as he glared at the busy market square.
Five Alpha-looking wolves with muscular builds and hoodies didn’t exactly paint a warm picture. Anyone could be scared of them and before they would be out of the market square, they would be spotted. Presence of a little girl in front of them was also not exactly sweet.
“I know a way,” Ranger said. “Follow me.” He guided them to the house, keeping to the shadows.
They stopped a few meters away from the mysterious house on the street that led to the edge of the woods. The house stood, shrouded in the darkness so inky that it seemed to repel the bravest wolves. As the moon grew further in the sky, the fagade of the house showed. Adorned with elaborate wrought-iron balconies which overlooked gardens below made it look el*egant.
They walked towards it, keeping a watch on the street to see if anyone was following them. There was no one. When they reached the gate, the absence of any guard manning it was surprising. Hunter opened the iron gate as softly as possible. What they thought would be a manicured garden was a labyrinth of overgrown vines and thorny bushes. A gnarled tree stood in the yard, its skeletal branches reaching the sky as if competing with the height of the two-storied house.
The front oak door was foreboding as if guarding the secrets very t*ightly. When Lachlan tried to knock it, Hunter grasped his h*and and shook his head once to warn him not to make noise. He took out a small pin that looked like it would break in two but when he inserted it in the door’s lock, with a soft click it opened in a few seconds. The grandchildren were actually pretty impressed with their grandfather and suppressed their giggles.
When they stepped inside, they were even more surprised. The furniture was ornate. A large ch*andelier hung in the center of the main hall. It was surprisingly very quiet. They walked further inside. A spiral stairwell led them upstairs where there were two rooms that were vacant. There was no trace of the occup*ants and it made them wonder what was happening. “I don’t think Lola lives here,” Hunter whispered. “Are we at the right place? This house seems empty!”
Ranger placed his h*ands on his h*ips as he looked around, bewildered that there was not a single soul living here. Licking his dry l*ips, he shook his head, mentally apologizing to others for getting them here for nothing. “Let’s go,” he said and headed downstairs. As they were on the last step, they heard whispers and g*roans.
Ranger placed his h*and on his l*ips for others to stay quiet as he strained his ears. On instinct, he brought Keya close to him. There were faint whispers, barely audible but undeniable and seemed to emanate from below them. Ranger directed his group to move away from the rug they were standing on. He removed the rug and his eyes went straight to a very cleverly crafted handle that resembled a switch board. With his breath lodged in his t*hroat, he looked at others once before holding it and lifting a wooden floorboard. To everyone’s surprise, the floorboard lifted softly, revealing a dark staircase. Whispers became pretty audible. Mingled with m*oans and g*roans, it looked like the place was being used for orgies.
Deftly, they all got down the stairs and entered a tunnel. They walked through the dimly lit tunnel and veered left to come to stand in front of a thick door. Hunter stepped in front of his group and pushed the door open. And what they saw there was enough to send shivers down their bodies!
