Alpha Alexander by LS Barbosa
Chapter 142 (Alexander)
I took the secret gate, something that only me, mom, dad, and Delilah knew about.
It was a door that was under the pack’s grounds. And having built it a long time ago, I was surprised to see that the door wasn’t locked when I used it.
I just hoped that the other end wasn’t blocked. Otherwise, I was going to have to resolve to my second plan, and I knew that it wasn’t one that anyone would like. “The man is just going to cause us a fuss, and you are very well aware that he will not cheat on Scarlett with Delilah.” I heard Mathew’s voice on top of me. His scent and Jordan’s filled my nostrils, and I knew that I was either under his office or the living room. “We are just wasting time as we wait for the elders to reconsider the order. They are refusing to kill him despite everything that we have told them, and needless to say, the b*itch that he chose to marry is just another reason why they’re refusing to do so.”
“If we kill him, Mathew, you and I are both dead. We have to find a way to make him think that he is only alive because we are allowing him to be. And him being with Delilah is going to kill both him and Scarlett.” He said, his tone calm. “But you beating him up the way that you are is only going to make him resent making any deals, and that is why I am choosing to use my way. Plus, we can demote him like you demoted Scarlett. It is not like she was living by her Alpha blood, and I don’t think that Delilah would mind being with Alexander as long as she got what she wanted.”

I stayed quiet as I held my breath before nodding, they were playing a very dangerous game and it was one that I was going to be f*orced to stop; however, for now, I wasn’t going to react. For now, I had to get my wife out of the prison that the f*ucker has her in to ensure that she didn’t fall for whatever tricks that he intended to play on her. To say the least, I didn’t know the torment that he’s been putting her through, and that was something that I was going to make him pay for.
I reached the exit gate, two of them. But these weren’t the ones that I wanted. These were the direct gates that merely took me from inside the house to the pack’s garden, and judging by the number of people that I could hear, I knew that things were going to be messy if I tried taking that path.
“They are crazy if they think that they would be able to defeat Alpha Alexander.”
“Mikayla, you and I both know that this is something that could cost your life. These walls have ears, and literally anyone here is not trusted. To say the least, the Alpha will know how to find his way out,” Katerina, one of the pack members said, stopping the woman. “We are going to stay out of this unless we are asked for help. The f*ucker is never going to lead this pack. If anything, he has lost more members to the point where he was f*orced to resolve to merging two packs.”
I shook my head, understanding now why Jordan was here. For a man who has led the pack for a long time, it surprised me to see that he couldn’t lead his own pack to the point where his pack members were f*orced to talk about him not knowing how to handle his responsibilities. But that was something that I didn’t want to discuss or bother with right now. If anything, I was going to ensure that I made my point loud and clear, for now, I just had to reach my mate.
I walked toward the bushes, this gate no one knew about. It was one that I had to build myself when I was younger. It led to the secret garden where I used to meet Delilah when we first saw one another. Something that was forbidden for her to do, especially since we were not direct alliance packs.
“I really don’t understand what it is that is making you not want to be with me, Alexander.” Delilah said, her voice coming from a distance. I could tell that she was crying, and though I knew that she wasn’t the woman that I wanted to be with, I knew that things had to end once and for all. “I tried, and I tried, and I f*ucking tried but I was never good enough. Then comes a f*ucking woman, an omega that I tried to keep away from you. You were in love with her all along and I was just f*ucking stupid not to see it.”
“You weren’t stupid, Delilah.” I said, taking a breath as I walked from behind her. She jumped before turning around to face me. “Alexander, your face…”
“It will heal, but the two of us are going to have to talk before we can come up with anything that could end up leading you to thinking that I was using you.” I said, taking a step forward. “I am going to have to leave, and I think that you came to realize that.”
“You leaving through the secret tunnel only tells me that you were trying to escape.” She said, and I nodded. She sighed and crossed her arms over her c*hest. “Do you really love her that much that you’re willing to risk it all or nothing?”
“You and I both know that I loved you a lot more than words could describe, but we also know that the number of issues that happened between the two of us are what stopped us from being able to form a family, to form a true relationship, or come to a real understanding.” I said, taking a step toward her. “I know that you can go from here and tell them that I ran. I also know that you can scream right now and call them to find me, but…”
“If I wanted to, I would have by now. But my main concerns right now are the fact that they are going to use Anastasia against you, and that is something that you don’t want.” She said, and I nodded as I pinched the bridge of my nose. “And there is also the fact that someone can go into the room before you’re gone and find out that you are not here.”
“I know, as for Nasia, I will get her out. For me escaping after that, I will find a way to manage. But that is not our topic.” I said, and she shook her head in question. “I am sorry for breaking your heart, for cheating, for lying, and for hurting as much as I did. I know what you lost for my sake, and I also know…”
“I gained a lot.” She said, stopping me. “To say the least, I found out that I can grow again even without you in my life. It hurts, and it is going to, but I cannot f*orce you to be with me when you won’t want to look at me. But I am curious, do you even know where this is going? Because I can tell that it is going places that neither one of us is going to like. And knowing Alpha Mathew, he is not going to stop…”
“He never got the kill order,”
“What?” She asked, frowning in confusion.
“I heard him and your father. They are talking riddles to make me feel like being with you would be the one way for me to survive to simply kill Scarlett and I.” I said and Delilah frowned, shaking her head at me.
“My father wouldn’t…”
“He has been bargaining with me to be with you to spare my life.” I said, and Delilah frowned before shaking her head. Her heart raced against her ribcage and I could tell that this was the last thing that she expected to hear.
“He’s been putting me, his only child, as a bargain?” She asked, and I looked away from her. “They wanted to demote me as an omega, claiming that you wouldn’t mind being with me as long as you got what you wanted. They are just playing a dirty game, Delilah, and we are being dragged down with them.” I said, and she took a deep breath. She wiped her tears from her eyes before walking toward me. She wrapped her arms around me as she hugged me tightly, and I smiled before hugging her back, appreciating the small gesture. I k*issed the crown of her head, letting my l*ips linger there for a few seconds before she pulled away to look me in the eye.
“I know what I can do to help. But the two of us are going to have be very fast…”
