Chapter 153 (Alexander)
We walked through the tunnels of the city, wanting to reach the Estate, as Delilah guided us.
It has been days, almost a week, since we left the underground quarters of Belorussia. And though I didn’t know where we currently were, I knew that better than to ask Delilah for anything.
She didn’t bother looking at me, clearly knowing that I didn’t want to speak to her. The fact that she had put my wife’s life in danger, selling us out for her own life, angered me more than anything, but I knew that she was a person that I needed right now, and the last thing that I had to deal with was getting on her bad side.
At this point, all my mind was fixed on was my mate. My child was safe, for now, but I knew that it was because they needed her alive. If anyone dared harm her, then they would be dealing with consequences that neither one of them wanted to handle, and that was something that I was well aware of.

“The tunnels lead toward Vladimir’s pack grounds, the thing is, we are going to need to pass the b*odyguards that are by the door.” She said, and I frowned.
“I thought you said that the tunnels were safer…”
“They are, until we’ve reached the grounds of the Pakhan.” She said before something crackled over us. I frowned in confusion and a heavy feeling filled my c*hest as a familiar scent filled my nostrils. My heart raced, and Delilah frowned.
Gunfire could be heard from a distance, and I couldn’t help but frown as at the smell of fire that filled my nostrils fro a distance. “We need to get to the secret tunnels, and we need to do it now.” Netanya’s voice took me off guard, and my heart dropped. “That is of course, unless you are planning to die, and the two of us have not been on this run…”
“Netanya, you are still f*ucking injured. You need to sit or at least tend to this wound…”
“Scarlett?” I asked, and Delilah cursed under her breath.
“This is going to be bad.” She said, shaking her head. The guns were far, but I knew that it was only a matter of time before they reached us, and I had a feeling that I knew who were behind these gun fires. “Delilah, where the f*uck are we?” I asked, and she pinched the bridge of her nose as she pulled a GPS out. She looked at one of the walls for a second before running her palm over it for a second before pressing one of the free stones. “We are a few kilometers away from Vladimir’s place, but how the f*uck your wife managed to escape, now that is something that we need to know.” She said, shaking her head. Crackles could be heard before the door opened, making my eyes widen as I caught sight of my mate whose eyes were wide in surprise. Netanya froze for a second, ready to attack, and I raised my hands as I kept my eyes on my mate.
“Alex?” She asked, and I nodded. She had her arm wrapped around Netanya, supporting her b*ody as she helped her walk, and judging by her smudged maid dress and apron, I could tell that the wound was deeper than she would like it to be. The two of them went to walk toward the door only for Delilah to hold a gun at her. I frowned in confusion and Netanya growled.
“Delilah, what the f*uck are you doing?” I asked, glaring at the woman who clearly seems to have lost her mind. The sounds of thudding footsteps made me tense, and I could tell that wherever they were coming from, they were very close.”
“You are Vladimir’s cousin.”
“Delilah, now is not the f*ucking time to negotiate” I said, snapping at the woman.
“She is danger on us, and I think that she f*ucking knows it.” Delilah said, looking at Netanya who took a deep breath.
“I am an outcast, numbers have been added to my head, and Vladimir is waiting for…”
“I am aware, and your presence is going to be dangerous.” She said, and I frowned. “Scarlett comes, I am f*orced by duty to protect her, but you are to stay back unless you want to die. You are injured anyway, and judging by the infection on the wound, you don’t have much longer anyway.”
“I did come seeking your pity. But…” She grabbed Scarlett by her c*hest and held a knife to her n*eck. She slowly ran the knife over her skin, cutting it, and Scarlett tried moving from her grasp only for Netanya to tighten it.
“Seriously?” Scarlett asked, and Netanya laughed, shaking her head. “Netanya, we can find a way to negotiate in another way. But this is not going to lead you anywhere. Especially not now that you need help.”
“I do not need your help, nor do I need your pity. But if you think that I saved your f*ucking life to lose mine then you are very wrong.” She said, and I growled, wanting to take a step forward. My heart raced against my ribcage, and I shook my head at Scarlett who took a deep and slow breath before Netanya’s eyes widened in surprise as a gunshot was heard. Scarlett jumped, and I was quick to wrap my arms around her as I pulled her to my c*hest, walking past Delilah and her stupid weapon.
Netanya’s b*ody dropped to the ground, and my heart raced as I pulled my wife to my c*hest. Her heart raced against her ribcage, and she fisted my shirt for a second too long, inhaling my scent before I looked at where the bullet came from.
My eyes met, none other, than the enemy that had put us through all the shit that we’ve been going through with his betrayal.
“Well, it is a good thing that you escaped to begin with.” Vladimir’s voice was dark with anger, deep, and furious. “But now, I am here to claim what is really mine…”
