Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K Chapter 218

Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K

Chapter 218

Ethan shuddered at the mention of Alpha Ranger.

“Who is Alpha Ranger?” she asked, getting up and coming to sit beside him.

“The most soulless and ruthless bastard who is fiercely protective about his people. He lives up in the north, about fifty miles away from the demon city. Those werewolves rarely leave their pack, but one of them did and ended up in our pack.” He paused to drink more of his whiskey. “He—” Ethan pursed his l*ips and closed his eyes. “I think he wandered here. There was this whole commotion happening in our community because of the recent violence going on. I—” he stared past her. “I k*illed him accidently.”

Keya froze. “You k*illed him?” When she was talking to him yesterday, there was a lot of noise coming from his side. “When?”

He grunted. Picking up the bottle of whiskey, he gulped more down his t*hroat. Wiping his m*outh, he looked past her. “Yesterday, when—” He slammed the bottle on the table. “F*uck!” he shouted. “I was with my men, beating him in a frenzy when you called.”

“Goddess!” A chill ran down her spine. “Why would you do that?”

“Do you know who is responsible for this situation?” he said to her in an accusatory voice. When she stared at him with wide eyes, refusing to answer, knowing very well who he was going to point at, he continued. “It is the Alphas of the pack who are responsible for the whole situation. I wish that they had listened to us earlier.” He shook his head. “And now Alpha Ranger is coming to hunt me down.”

“How do you know?” she asked, not happy with his accusation, but at the same time, thinking that had the situation been contained in a timely manner, she wouldn’t have to face Alpha trials.

“I can sense it. I know it, Keya,” he said, stabbing his f*ingers in his hair. “He will find me and he will k*ill me. In cold blood.”

“No!” Keya said. She got up and held his h*and. “We will fight him. Tell me how I can help you.” She really didn’t want more troubles in her pack.

“You can’t help me…” he said, removing himself from her grasp.

“Surely you can call him and tell him that you didn’t mean to k*ill him?”

“And do you think he will believe me?” he scoffed.

“Sure, why not?” she said with wide eyes.

He tousled her hair. “You are too naive, Keya.”

“So what are you going to do?”

He walked unsteadily to the door. “I’ll just go and be with my friends.”

“Don’t leave,” she cried. “Come back. I will tell my father that I will marry you. That is going to save you from Alpha Ranger.”

“Marry you?” he chuckled. “I am sorry Keya, but I would like to find my mate.”

“But you’re already eighteen and shifted and you still haven’t found your mate,” she said with desperation in her voice.

“So? It’s not like she isn’t there somewhere in the world. Moreover, your judgment is affected by your situation. You want to escape the trials and you want to use me for it.”

“But I’ve always loved you!” she cried.

“And deny both of us an opportunity to find a mate?” He let out a rough exhale. “We both are royalty. My father is the younger brother of the Alpha of the bear shifters. I am going there for a few days. Don’t come after me. Goodbye!”

Keya’s m*outh fell to the floor as she watched him leaving the restaurant. “W—wait!” she ran after him, but saw him rushing down the stairs of the tower. She ran to the balcony only to find a bear running towards the woods. A cry made its way up her t*hroat as she dragged herself back to the restaurant. She had hoped that tonight she would take him down to one of the rooms where she would make love with him, but she never imagined that this would happen. She picked up the bottle of whiskey and gulped the remaining, not bothering about its effects.

After what seemed like an hour, she finally settled in her bed, eyes swollen up because of crying incessantly. She had a terrible headache. She realized that she couldn’t even accomplish her mission of s*educing Ethan because she became angry with him for two reasons-one, he accused her fathers for the situation, and two, she was scared for him.

The outcome of the meeting was that in two days she was going to meet strangers, one of whom was going to win her h*and. The room spun wildly and she g*roaned. She picked up a pillow and hid her face under it, thinking if there was any other way to escape the situation. There wasn’t. She was doomed. Soon she drifted off to sleep.

The night was dark and quiet, but he shot awake in the middle of the night, rubbing his c*hest. Baby blue eyes haunted him in his dreams. Over the past year, those eyes, golden ringlets that he ached to see spread over his pillows flashed through his mind. The image of the girl was never clear. Her features would appear and disappea behind a cocoon of white mist. Ever since she had visited him in his dreams, he measured every woman he met. his unease grew a notch higher. He grew on the edge as emptiness settled in his c*hest.

He gazed at the window, outside which a heavy blizzard had set. His tracker had brought the information that his Beta, Matt, was lynched to death by a mob in the Dark Moon pack. Anger was the least of his concerns. He was enraged to the point that he wanted to k*ill the Alphas of the Dark Moon pack. Wipe out their entire family or k*ill all their children.

Matt was like a brother to him. After his parents had died, he had stuck with him like his shadow. When he ascended to the position of the Alpha of the Shadow pack, Matt was his choice to be his Beta.

Matt found his mate two years back and they had a lovely pup who was just eight months old. His mate, Julie, had gone into a state of depression. He wanted to avenge the murder of his friend and Beta. And for that he had to go to the Dark Moon pack. He was known as the Prince of Shadows and there was a reason for that. He was the most lethal Alpha when it came to striking the enemy. He was so quiet with his plans that his left h*and didn’t know what his right h*and had planned.

Brows drawn, he got out of the bed, trudging across the rooms to the main hall. His house was no less than a castle. Over the time, he had learned every nook and corner of this house. Drawing the curtains back of the balcony, he looked outside. Every house that he could see from his mansion that was located over a small hillock, was shrouded with snow. It all looked so desolate without Matt. The news was two days old. He had to find a new Beta, but not before he k*illed Hunter and his family.

Ranger was a loner and was content to stay in the shadows, but because of Matt, he forced himself to come out of the shadows. When it came to revenge, he was a merciless assassin.

He went back to bed but sleep eluded him.

Next day when he was packing, his gamma, Vera, came to him. “Alpha, would you like me to accompany you? It’s quite dangerous out there.”

He growled, “No.”

Vera winced. “The council has sent me to talk to you. Moreover, I have information about the Dark Moon pack.” Ranger stopped packing. He stood straight and narrowed his eyes on Vera.

Vera continued, “The Alphas of the Dark Moon pack have decided to conduct Alpha Trials.”

“What do you mean?”

“Their daughter, Princess Keya will turn eighteen in two days and they will announce a contest in which they will be calling all the eligible bachelors to win her as a prize.”

He raised an eyebrow. This was going to become even more interesting.

“The council members have asked me to tell you that you shouldn’t go there. One wrong step and who knows that all of them would go against you?” Vera appeared nervous.

Ranger turned back to pack his things. “In that case you are also coming with me!”

Vera jerked his head back. When he was coming here, he was half sure that Alpha would agree with the council, so he had packed his bags already and brought them to the mansion. “Okay!” he breathed. “When do we start?” In less than an hour, Vera was sitting beside Ranger in their Land Rover, speeding towards the Dark Moon pack. The distance was supposed to be covered in ten hours, but with the way Ranger was driving, they reached the Dark Moon pack two hours earlier.

They halted in Hotel Sapphire just outside the Dark Moon pack. It belonged to Shawn Mendez who was a relative of Hunter.

Vera arranged for the biggest suite for Ranger while he settled for a room below. “Here are your keys,” he said to Ranger. They both went to his suite first. As soon as they closed the door behind, Vera asked, “Do you have a plan?” This was his first question of the day.

“No,” Ranger replied curtly and Vera winced. “Let’s go for dinner.”

Ranger was going to hunt for the men who k*illed his Beta in the night. He would enter the Dark Moon pack after dinner.
