Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K Chapter 227

Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K

Chapter 227

Keya couldn’t help but notice the strength of his c*hest, the corded biceps and broad shoulders. Somehow, she dragged her gaze back to his dark eyes and found him looking at her with a quizzical expression. Even though he was intoxicated, he looked crazily sensuous.

“Are you well?” he asked, staring in her eyes intensely.

“Yeah!” she bobbed her head. Why was it that with him she felt safer despite the fact that he was a threat to Ethan. Why was it that she found her tension leaving her body, in spite of his reputation of being the most cold and ruthless Alpha? Rather than those feelings, a heated awareness brimmed i*nside her c*hest and it had nothing to do with the anger she had about the way she reacted to him. The heat would cruise through her and pool right in her belly. Goddess. She hoped she wasn’t attracted to him, yet she was. She was trying best to put distance between him and her and yet here she was—sitting with him on the crest of a hill as if on a date.

He offered her the bacon cheeseburger and opened a can of beer for himself. He chugged his beer down and when he finished half the can, he wiped his m*outh. “So how about we begin the first favor?”

She choked on her burger and coughed. The louche didn’t even try to brush her back. Instead he offered her his beer can. “Gulp down some and you’ll be good.” He definitely didn’t have any experience in the girls’ department. In anger, she snatched the can from him and chugged down the remaining beer. He smirked at her as he leaned back and supported his b*ody on his h*ands.

“On the risk of repeating my question, I will ask you again-how about we start with the first favor today?” he said, c*ocking his head slightly and looking every bit arrogant.

She gritted her teeth. “This isn’t fair. You haven’t even done anything to save Ethan!”

He shrugged. “If you want me to consider it, you will have to start favoring me.”

She blinked her eyes wondering at the double meaning of his words. “Look, Alpha Ranger, I have to go back home in an hour.”

“You will stay with me till the sun rises.” He said in a way that there was no room for argument.

She gazed at him with fury as he held her stare, his eyes smoldering. Beneath her shawl, Keya was wearing a pink tank top and pink shorts that had hearts printed all over. She wasn’t wearing a bra. When his eyes fell on her b*reasts, he released a gust of breath and her n*ipples h*ardened at the reaction. Not once in her life had anyone made her feel like she was a femme fatale. But this wolf made her feel like she was a s*ex goddess. “Okay…” she said, averting her gaze and sinking her wee fangs in the burger. After a long silence, she asked, “I heard that your Beta was accidentally k*illed. I know—”

“But Ethan,” he cut her off. “And yet you want me to save him.”

“It was accidental,” she added.

“K*illing is never accidental. It is always by choice, especially that kind of a k*illing,” he said in a serious voice that raised her heckles. “Along with others, he lynched Matt.”

“The whole pack is not in a good situation right now. His community is having troubles,” she argued.

“Troubles made by your fathers. Maybe they should just ask those communities to go and live with theirs.” His gaze drifted towards the pack, the lights of which were slowly disappearing one by one. “What Ethan did is not pardonable. Matt was like a family to me.”

“What about your parents?” she asked, intrigued that he spoke so fondly about Matt.

“My parents were k*illed in an attack when I was only eight. Matt’s parents raised me. He was like my brother and—” his t*hroat choked. “He found his mate two years back. Julie. And they have an eight month old pup.” He turned his head to her. “Julie is so depressed after her mate’s death that she wants to follow him to the Fade. What will happen to their little pup?” A shudder ran down his b*ody and he closed his eyes. “I don’t want another child to be orphaned. It isn’t fair…”

Keya couldn’t say a word after that, her heart crying for the little baby. It was impossible to choose between Matt and Ethan. “I’m sorry about that…” she murmured. In order to change the topic, she asked, “How did your parents die?” When he snapped his gaze at her in anger, she jerked her head back. “I- I mean- I am sorry, you don’t have to answer that.”

Ranger closed his eyes as he tipped his head up. The memories of that night would linger in his mind forever. Their pack was undergoing a food crisis that winter because all the routes were cut off. Along with a team of his best warriors, his father, Alpha Jaxon and his mother Luna Lily, had gone to hunt. They returned after five days of facing harsh weather and continuous blizzards with a lot of meat. However, just as they were about to reach their pack, a pack of rogues attacked the convoy and k*illed all of them. They got away after looting every last animal that they had brought. Their bodies were found less than half a mile away from the pack’s territory. He was told that it was a pack of rogues, but what the hell was a pack of rogues doing this far up in the north? He never quite believed the theory and till today he couldn’t.

Taking a deep sigh in, he said, “I don’t want to talk about them but when I will find those who k*illed my parents, I won’t let them go. I will hunt them till the end of the world and I will k*ill them.”

The way he said those words made her shiver. She stopped eating as she stared at him without blinking her eyes. He looked troubled with his eyes closed, ragged breathing and muscles bunched up. Slowly, she took her h*and to him and placed it on his arm. He didn’t open his eyes and she caressed his skin, hoping that he would soothe. He let her caress him until his breath became normal. “I hope you catch them one day,” she murmured softly. He chuckled, his demeanor relaxing under her t*ouch. “I hope so too.” He caught her h*and and delightful shivers ran down her body. “Don’t come out alone at night, okay? This place isn’t safe.” Over the last few hours, Ranger had been contemplating what to do with Keya. He had come to the Dark Moon pack with just one mission, which was to k*ill Ethan and then Keya and the rest of the clan and then leave. He wanted to avenge Matt, but after meeting her for the first time, his determination about k*illing her was slipping. Moon Goddess surely loved to play jokes. And now he was sitting here with his enemy asking her to never come out alone because it wasn’t safe. He realized that he could never hurt her. If anything, he would only protect her.

She ate the burger and h*anded him the other packet. Never had she eaten such delicious burgers in her life. “I love these burgers and I would love to have more. If I come out to this side of the pack, would you accompany me?”

His brows furrowed. “This part of the town is not right.”

“Then what were you doing here?” I asked.

He clenched his jaws. “I was searching for something.” Partial truth. He was searching for more information on who was involved in lynching Matt but before he knew, his feet brought him closer to the castle. He ate his burger, wiped his h*and with the napkins provided with it and opened another can of beer. “But you never told me why you had come out.” He gave her a mystic look and a lopsided smile.

Taken on a back foot, she said, “I told you I wanted to see this part of the town.”

“Liar,” he said and sprawled on the grass.

She blushed. “No…” Why was she feeling like she was a date?

“Tell me more about you,” he asked. “How did you approve of this event in a modern age?” She looked so fragile that he wanted to envelop her in his arms.

She pursed her l*ips and looked away. “I didn’t want it…” she said with a t*ight expression. She rolled her shoulders as if trying to shake away all the tension that returned. She started to turn and get up when an arm curled around her waist and pulled her back against a very h*ard body.

Caught off guard, she looked up, her h*ands against his c*hest. She tried to push him off, but it was like moving a mountain. His arm t*ightened around her waist and his h*and settled on her h*ip. She whipped her head to look at him as they both were now on the ground.

All her common sense shorted and she froze. For the hundredth time, she couldn’t help but feel how beautiful he was. His dark hair brushed his n*eck. She had this crazy urge to t*ouch the cleft of his chin, but she balls her h*ands into fists. The way he gazed at her was more than enough to make her m*oan but she stifled it too.

“Do you know that I wasn’t expecting you tonight and that’s why-” he stopped speaking, his eyes landing on her l*ips.

“That’s why?” she asked, urging him to complete his sentence.

He brought his face so close to her that his breath fanned her cheeks. “Why do I feel that you were coming for me?”

“I wasn’t!” I said glibly and he chuckled. “Wait a moment.” I narrowed my eyes on him. “Have you been watching me or following me?” I asked. “That is so wrong at so many levels.”

When he remained quiet, I tsked softly under my breath. “You can’t do that, okay?” She tried to get up but he pinned her with one l*eg. When the muscles of his n*aked c*hest flexed and bunched up beneath her h*ands, her l*ips parted.
