Offered to the Lycan King by Misha K
Chapter 236
As usual, Ranger pulled her hoodie up, made her drink a potion that would fade her scent and caught her h*and t*ightly as he led her through the crowded market with Vera following them. They reached the pub shortly only to find that the place was jammed. Some of the wolves were celebrating the victory of Alpha Mickey while some were placing bets for the next tournament.
“This should be ill*egal!” Keya hissed. “How can they place bets on something so gory?”
Ranger chuckled. “There’s a lot of adrenalin-gush amongst them, Keyu. Stop fretting. In a way it is good that they are placing bets. It seems that the Alpha trials were one of the best events of the Dark Moon pack. You can’t imagine its popularity and how wolves are invested in it. She took a deep breath in. “Let’s hope that the main culprit is found.”
The three sat in a secluded area that was covered on three sides and was a little at the back where it was darker. Ranger ordered beer for all of them. Vera looked at the two excitedly. He was h*ardly able to control his grin. He just couldn’t stay quiet and asked, “It’s so nice to see you with our Alpha. Should I understand that you like him and want to give him a chance?”

Keya blushed slightly. She wanted to stop everyone from competing and maybe go and spend a few days with Ranger somewhere alone or even at his pack. She felt his h*and curling over her t*high and jolts of electricity shot in her body. Why was it that every time he t*ouched her, she felt excited and thrilling? Scratching her forehead, she said, “Yes, I like him.”
“What?” Ranger growled. “You just like me? I thought we were in love.”
She smacked his arm and he let out a low chuckle. She saw that Vera was gaping. His m*outh had dropped seeing his Alpha’s reaction. “Do you know that this is the first time you have smiled in a long time. Like I don’t remember when was the last time. I mean I thought that the goddess hadn’t given you those seven smile muscles. Or maybe they were frozen with time because you-”
“Shut. Up.” Ranger growled and Vera snapped his m*outh shut. He moved his f*ingers dramatically and turned them as if mimicking zipping his l*ips seal.
They had beer together during which time Vera told her about their pack. “It snows a lot over there but it is the most beautiful pack you can ever see. During winters, Alpha Ranger has ordered that every street be lit with fairy lights so that it doesn’t appear so bleak. And the results are phenomenal. Our pack looks like a fairyland.”
“Wow!” Keya said, imagining its scenic beauty.
“There she is!” Vera suddenly said in a raspy voice, pointing with his chin towards a woman sitting on the bar stool at the counter.
Keya whipped her head to look at the woman and frowned. She looked… familiar.
“That is Lola,” Vera said. “She tried to s*educe me and took me to the abandoned children’s park.” Ranger’s eyes narrowed. He chugged his beer down and said, “Go to her again. You know what you have to do”
“Wait!” Keya said. “What are you guys doing?”
Ranger clenched his teeth. “We want to see where she takes Vera.”
“If you know her full name, I can ask about her from Asher. He’s great with IT’ she suggested. “On what basis?” Ranger asked. “Besides, if you ask, they will come to know that you are with us. Won’t they become suspicious? This whole undercover operation would blow in a few minutes and we will lose the little lead we have.”
Keya pursed her l*ips and nodded. “Okay, but be safe.” She turned her face to him. “I want you to fight and win the tournament.”
Vera let out a low whistle. “Now isn’t it getting more and more interesting?”
“Shut up!” Ranger growled.
Vera laughed and got up. He walked to where Lola was sitting. There was a momentary surprise in her eyes when she saw him. “Oh, nice to see you Vera,” she said with a s*eductive smile. “You left me hanging the other night!”
He forced a smile and went to sit next to her. “I was in a bit of a hurry that night.”
She leaned towards him. “Won’t you ask a lady for a drink?”
“Of course!” He turned to the bartender and ordered two vodkas.
“Thanks,” she said with a mysterious smile.
Back with Ranger, Keya was watching them. “Why do I feel I have seen her somewhere?” she said. Ranger jerked his head back. “If it is of any help, she’s a bear shifter.”
Keya furrowed her brows, trying h*ard to remember where she had seen her. Lola’s loud laugh broke her reverie. “You know Vera,” Lola said, placing her h*and on his t*high. “I would love to spend the night with you. Are you interested? I’ve never seen a strappy wolf like you out here and I would love to explore you. With my t*ongue.” Vera gave her a sensuous look, raising his eyebrow. “That’s a cheesy pickup line Lola, but I will take it.”
She giggled, shaking her head. “Well as long as it works.” She jumped up. “Be right back. Want to empty the bladder.”
When she left, Vera looked at his Alpha and Keya. He started to get up to come to them, but Ranger stopped him. He mind-linked and said, ‘You will let her think that you are interested.’
‘Yes Alpha.’
Lola came within five minutes despite there being a long line outside the loo, tucking her phone in her back pocket. “Can I have another shot, please?”
“Sure,” Vera ordered another one. After about three more vodka shots, Lola caught his h*and and tugged him out. Vera glanced at his Alpha who nodded at him and then went out. Keya and Ranger followed them. This time Lola didn’t walk with him to the children’s park. Instead, she walked out of the market square, towards residential areas. “I know this place,” Keya whispered to Ranger. They kept themselves to the shadows of the trees on the sides and maintained a distance of about thirty meters from them.
“I am sure you know it,” he replied.
“No, I’ve been here once before.” She scanned the surroundings as she walked with him.
“Just stay close to me Keya,” Ranger said. “I am not comfortable putting you in this trouble.” He put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
Vera and Lola walked two more blocks as Lola talked animatedly with him. She looked behind her as if with suspicion, making Ranger and Keya freeze on their spots, but she shrugged and then resumed walking. She stopped in front of an opulent house where she curled her arms around Vera’s n*eck and in a silky voice said, “This is my place. My parents are home and I bought a new couch that I haven’t christened. Would you help me with it?”
He looked intensely at her, half doubting when all of a sudden, he heard Ranger’s voice in his head. ‘Come back.’ Vera peeped at the house behind her and noticed that it was uncannily quiet. The gardens around it were meticulously manicured. Enveloped in inky blackness, it seemed to absorb the rays of moonlight, rendering its fagade mysterious. There were no external lights, contributing to its seclusion as if the house was guarding its secret jealously.
‘Come back,’ Ranger’s voice sounded loud and clear.
“Come in,” Lola said with a smile. She brought her l*ips next to his and brushed them lightly.
Vera’s l*ips parted. He felt like she was the only person in his world that could make him happy. Lola was the epitome of beauty and if he didn’t succumb to her beauty, he would die. Entranced, he nodded, defying his Alpha’s command. He caught her h*and and she f*licked her hair in victory. She started tugging him to the main gate. ‘Vera!’ Ranger growled loudly enough to make him wince.
Vera’s head exploded with pain. “Ah!” He caught his head with both h*ands.
“What happened?” Lola said, holding him steady, looking into his eyes.
Vera closed his eyes shut. “Nothing…” But the headache was too immense to be ignored. “Just a dull headache.”
She tugged him h*arder. “Come inside. I will give you medicine and it will be fine.”
Vera couldn’t ignore her. Suddenly, Lola became even more beautiful than she was. She possessed ethereal beauty, flawless visage and the way moonlight fell on her pale skin, it illuminated her in an alluring way. Her beautiful sea-green eyes were the most captivating, reminding him of the depths of the ocean. He was mesmerized. All he wanted was to flow with her, be with her and maybe die for her. Despite the terrible headache, he allowed himself to be pulled by her.
Just when she was opening the gate of the house, Ranger stormed in. “Vera!” Vera snapped out of his trance. B*ody stiff, he whipped his head to look at his Alpha and s*ucked in sharp air. “Wh-what?”
Lola left his h*and, eyes wide, unable to see his face under the hoodie. “Who are you?” she growled, peeling her l*ips back.
Ranger didn’t reply and pulled his Gamma away from her.
“Come back to me!” Lola shouted, but Ranger just didn’t stop. When he reached where Keya was, he said, “You were right. Oberon starts a few blocks from here. There is something very wrong. I want to meet your brother, Grisham.”
As they were running back to the market square, they heard Lola’s boots clicking on the street after them. “Come this way!” Keya guided them through a busy street and eventually they stopped once they were in front of the castle. Seeing her along with Alpha Ranger and one other wolf, the guards were surprised. They opened the gates immediately.
Keya hurried inside and took them straight to Grisham. Grisham was stocked to see them. He quickly allowed them inside and called Lachlan also. They narrated everything.
“I suspect she’s not a bear-shifter,” Keya said. “Or maybe she’s half bear-half something else.” She pointed at Vera who still had a glassy look on his face.
“What do you mean?” Grisham asked.
“I think she has the genes of a siren in her,” Keya replied, placing her h*ands on her h*ips. “Look at him. He is still entranced,” she pointed at Vera.
“F*uck!” Grisham rasped. Sirens had l*egendary s*eductive powers.
Ranger shook his head. “There’s a bigger game going on and Lola is a part of it!” Lachlan stabbed his f*ingers in his hair. “What do we do now?”
“We need Grandpa Hunter!” Grisham suggested. “Tomorrow morning while the pack is busy witnessing the fight between Alpha Mickey and Alpha Beau, we raid that house!”
