Sharing Beatrice A Luna To Her Stepbrothers by Alexis Dee Book 3

Chapter 556 – I Need A Boyfriend. (Beatrice)

“Mom! I’m home,” I shouted as I entered the house, spotting my mother in the living room with an elderly man.

“You need to pay the rent in advance,” he continued speaking to my mother in a very disrespectful manner, almost as if he were yelling at her.

“But… it was never mentioned in the paper that we would be asked to pay in advance,” my mom always remained gentle, at least with others.

“Mom! What’s happening? Why are we being asked to pay the rent upfront?” I knew I had to intervene before he pressured my mother into paying early.

He knew our situation when we arrived two months ago. Mom needed a fresh start, so she packed up and brought us to this town far from the city. She wanted a peaceful new beginning, away from her tumultuous boyfriend.

“Because, young lady, I need money this month,” he turned to me and frowned, giving me attitude.

“Okay, and? Oust because you need money doesn’t mean you can come knocking on our door whenever you want. My mom told you we can only afford to pay for the current month. All these things were discussed before we signed the lease—” I paused when my mother pinched my arm and stared at me in shock.

“Yes, that’s right. Stop her from talking nonsense with me. You know I won’t tolerate some little girl yelling at me. This is my house, and I get to decide everything here. Otherwise, I can give you a notice and ask you to vacate this place in two months. That was clearly stated in the papers,” the old man smirked, his gray eyes devoid of emotions as he threatened us.

“Beatrice, go upstairs,” my mom gestured for me to leave before I caused more trouble.

“Melanie! I’m being kind to you because you seem like a reasonable woman. As for the rent, I’ve said the same thing to others, and they’ve paid. So I expect you to do the same, or else the others will learn from you and try to follow your lead,” Mr. Bobaski shrugged, making me clench my jaw at his sight. But my mother kept pushing me behind her, preventing me from making eye contact with the man.

“I understand. I’m so sorry for her outburst. You know young blood is hot and impulsive. I’ll try to get a second job and pay you in ten days, would that be okay?” my mom miserably rubbed her palms together as she pleaded for time from the heartless man.

“Sure, ten days only. I’ll return with hopes,” he waved his hand at my mom before leaving the apartment.

“Beatrice! What’s wrong with you? You’ve never interfered in any matters before, so what happened today?” as my mom scolded me, disappointment flickering in her eyes, I remembered what Gloria had told me earlier.

She mentioned that I used to stay out of trouble and that suddenly I was getting involved in things. “Did you have a bad day at school?” Mom’s tone softened as she entered the kitchen to warm up some food for me.

“It was the same,” I replied, dropping my bag on the couch and joining her in the kitchen. “Mom! Why are you letting that man get to you? You’re already doing so much. You’ll make yourself sick if you keep pushing like this,” I insisted, but I noticed tears welling up in my mother’s eyes.

“I just want the best for you. This place is our home now, Beatrice. If we get evicted, well have to move back to the big city, and the people there are scary. I just feel like we don’t belong in big cities,” she sniffled, watching me helplessly.

“Then let me get a job. I’m already eighteen. Please, let me. Even Gloria is working part-time at a cafe,” I pleaded, noticing my mom starting to zone out.

“Mom! That’s the only way we can avoid going back,” I said firmly, watching her shake her head and smile at me.

“Coing back home?” I furrowed my brow at her when she repeated my words.

“Huh?” I frowned in confusion.

“I mean, we’re never going back home. The big city scares me,” she sighed. “Okay, if you insist. But please be careful. Beautiful girls like you become targets for all sorts ofcrime in these towns,” she requested, noticing my smile.

“Also, your friend called me,” as I began to bring out plates so we could sit and eat together, Mom brought up Gloria.

“Why was she calling you?” I asked, puzzled.

“She said there’s a party at one of your classmates’ houses,” I was shocked that my mother was mentioning the party so nonchalantly. I’ve seen parents freak out at the mention of parties.

“Yeah, some guy Ronnie,” I mumbled, trying to be sneaky when saying his name. Ronnie was the class hunk. No, actually, he was the town’s hunk. Everyone loved Ronnie to the point where they thought of him as the only s*exy guy alive. I’ve seen him in school, and I couldn’t deny how good-looking he was. However, I’d heard that he was a playboy and also very cold-hearted.

“Aha! But don’t worry, I’m not going,” I replied.

“I want you to go,” Mom’s words made me stop what I was doing and turn around to look at her in confusion.

“Huh?” I raised my brow.

“Come on, Beatrice! If you won’t meet up with guys, how will you make a boyfriend?” My mom was shocking me left and right.

“Mom! Usually, parents make sure their kids don’t sneak out to parties, and you’re telling me that I need to go?” I placed my hands on my waist to question her.

“Because my daughter is scary. She doesn’t even talk about any guys. In fact, she’s fixated on some fictional men. Especially some prince that is coming to sweep her away. Now, I want you to go to this party. You’re eighteen, and I’m sure you’ll make wise decisions,” Mom sternly added. “I already told Gloria you will go to this party tonight.”
