Sharing Beatrice A Luna To Her Stepbrothers by Alexis Dee Book 3

Chapter 559 – Welcome To My Version Of Reality, My Brother (Maddox)

“Ahhhh!” I gasped and opened my eyes. As I glanced around, I found myself trapped in the same hell that my brother had condemned me to. It was the place between life and death, and I hadn’t been able to move on, no matter how many times I promised I would.

“No!” I shook my head as I surveyed the plain grounds.

I had been alone here. There was no sky, no water, no air-just an empty expanse, with only blackness above and solid ground beneath me.

“I can break free if I cross this bridge today,” I sighed, realizing that many had crossed it and found the path to hell or heaven.

I was stuck here, refusing to leave. But why would I go? I deserved to live. Even if I told others I was fine, I wasn’t.

Once again, I stepped closer to the bridge and observed the fog around it. The two towering guards in black cloaks stepped aside to let me pass.

I thought it was okay to cross. There was nothing left for me here.

I took a deep breath, and just as I was about to step onto the bridge, I heard a loud scream from the black sky, followed by thud after thud. More souls had fallen down.

I looked around and noticed, behind large rocks, some werewolves who had died.

Something piqued my interest, and I began walking in the direction of the souls.

This many souls only arrived when there was an ongoing war in the living zone.

Reaching the first person, I frowned because I couldn’t recognize them until I squinted a little and remembered that they were once kicked out of the pack. A rogue’s soul.

In fact, as I moved among the souls kneeling in pain, I recognized not only rogues but also men in black.

“This is Zane’s army,” I hissed under my breath. It was as if a new wave of energy had surged through my veins.

And then, the king himself fell among them.

My mind went numb for a moment before I fixated my eyes on my brother, who was on his knees with his head bowed. The others got up and began to scatter aimlessly. There was no way I would even take a second to recognize him. Even when my memory would go foggy sometimes, there was no way his memory ever left my mind. My eyes teared up as all the time we had spent together up until he betrayed me flashed before my eyes.

This was the typical reaction of everyone upon arriving here: lost and confused. Some would even wander to the other side of the rocks where a fake reality awaited. Many would become ensnared by it, oblivious to the fact that it reset every few days, perpetually lost in its illusion.

I’ve been there, but I’ve mastered the concept of reality by now. I can navigate it without losing my mind. I was blankly watching him, shocked that he arrived so shortly after sending me here.

“What is this place?” Zane’s frantic voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

He looked utterly miserable on his knees, trembling like a baby bird fallen from its nest. He remained clueless but then I believe he sensed my presence.

“Brother?” When he raised his head and our eyes met, he managed a weak smile. “Your name…”

In that moment, I knew it would take him some time to regain his memory and realize the depths of his own cruelty.

I wondered who had ended his life, who had brought him to my feet.

“Maddox! I am your twin,” I uttered under my breath. It used to be an amazing feeling to have a twin who I could share everything with, but now things have changed. My feelings have changed. I felt like the burden of being a twin to a heartless person had killed me. The burden finally suffocated me. I thought I was the man from hell, but it turned out, it was my other shadow.

“Zane!” I feigned concern and knelt beside him, grasping his shoulders to help him up.

“What’s happening? Where are we?” His voice was filled with panic as he scanned the darkness. He was no longer a man from hell; he was just a man in hell.

“We’re stuck,” I lied, watching his face fall further.

“Stuck? How? Where?” Weakness emanated from every pore of his being.

“Some curse has brought us here,” I continued, further disorienting him.

“Oh no! Where are the others?” His voice trembled, his throat dry.

“What others?” I probed, curious to see what fragments of memory he still retained.

“Akin-Helel-mom and dad,” he stumbled over the names, skipping one that would’ve earned him a punch if spoken.

“Ah, they’re in reality. We’re stuck here,” I pointed out, rubbing his back.

“What do we do now? We need to get out of here and return home,” he said, slowly regaining his composure.

I wouldn’t let him stand tall, not anymore.

“Should we go that way?” He gestured toward the bridge, and a shiver ran down my spine. I wouldn’t dare go there.

“No!” I shook my head aggressively, pulling his hand down. He wanted to cross the bridge to end his suffering, but the torment beyond would be far worse than anything hell could offer.

“But I feel like that’s the right way. There’s someone standing there,” he insisted.

“Zane, I’ve tried that. It only leads to pain. It’s a trap. The moment you cross that bridge, you’ll lose all sense of self,” I urged, pulling him away from the bridge.

“You crossed it?” His brow furrowed.

“I didn’t-l tried, but I saw others falling into the abyss,” I explained, seeing his frown deepen.

“Others? Who are they? Are they cursed too?” He scratched the back of his neck, signaling his growing consciousness. I knew I had to lead him away, behind the big rocks.

“Zane, I know a way. You just need to follow me, and we’ll be reunited with our family,” I assured him, noticing him shake himself awake and nod in agreement.
