Sharing Beatrice A Luna To Her Stepbrothers by Alexis Dee Chapter 563

Sharing Beatrice A Luna To Her Stepbrothers by Alexis Dee Book 3

Chapter 563 – The Brothers Moving In Are Hot (Beatrice)

After being dropped off at home, I nodded off right away and avoided chatting with Gloria. I felt a bit let down by her. It’s not like I was expecting her to stick around all night. But she shouldn’t have just left me without saying anything, and then to come back and start flirting with Ronnie while I was shivering really got to me.

“How was the party last night? You got back pretty early, didn’t you? Why?” Mom asked, sounding worried because Gloria had persuaded her to let me crash at her place for the night.

But truth be told, I wouldn’t have stayed there even if nothing had happened just because of her brother. I’d seen him around, and honestly, he gave me the creeps. He was a senior at our school and would always just pop up out of nowhere to stare at me. I didn’t appreciate his behavior. And on top of that, he didn’t even get along with Gloria; he was mean to her. A troublemaker like him really irked me.

“I can safely say I’m never going to another party,” I sighed, poking at the peas on my plate.

“Why? Is everything okay?” Mom looked concerned, and I knew why. I was just waiting for her to probe further.

“Gloria called me early this morning, asking if you were up or when you’d wake up,” she said, casting a sneaky glance around to avoid seeing me frown at her.

“Be honest,” she insisted, looking directly at me when she realized I might try to fib.

“It’s honestly nothing. I just didn’t enjoy the party, so I insisted we leave early, but she wanted to stay,” I said, not wanting to worry my mom further.

“So, you two argued because of it?” she inquired.

“Sort of. But don’t worry, I’ll talk to her,” I said, eager to change the subject. I cleared my throat and restlessly set my fork down. “There’s been some activity at the mansion across the road. I saw movers there when I woke up,” I added, watching my mother nod steadily.

“I heard some rich kids are moving in. Their father is, um, I believe the new mayor,” she mentioned with a hint of disappointment.

The town had a shady reputation because of the mayor’s family’s immense power. Then, when that mayor stepped down and began overseeing the town from another city, it brought some relief until Ronnie’s father, the head of the sheriff department, took the reins. Basically, he became the town’s leader because everyone was afraid of him reporting their actions to the mayor. That’s also why Ronnie wielded so much influence.

“Oh! What happened to the old mayor?” I rolled my eyes as I spoke of him. I didn’t know much about him since I wasn’t around when he took office, but I’d heard he was very corrupt and abused his power to the fullest.

“He got caught up in some case and is awaiting trial. But this new mayor has a large family, I heard. You better be careful because we live right across the road from them,” Mom cautioned, and I nodded in agreement.

It gave me a strange feeling, not necessarily bad, but uneasy.

“I’m done,” I pouted, pushing my plate away.

“Beatrice!” Mom scolded, “You’ve been skipping meals, and I don’t like that. I don’t want you to suffer because of some toxic beauty standards.” Before my mother could continue her lecture, I approached her and wrapped my arms around her.

“I won’t. Don’t worry,” I reassured her with a smile before heading upstairs to deal with Gloria before she worried my mother. That was another thing that bothered me a lot. I’d told her a million times not to involve my mother in our arguments, but the minute we had a disagreement, she would call my mother to complain.

However, my mind was filled with memories of my childhood. I couldn’t help but feel lucky to have a mother like Melanie, but there was a time when we faced a horrible turn of events in our lives.

My mom was divorced, and it had just been the two of us for years until her new boyfriend came around and ruined everything for us. He was abusive towards my mom and verbally abusive towards me. He used to yell at me and try to control me, and my mother didn’t like it. His friends would come around too, and my mother never approved of them.

I managed to survive without a scratch, despite their intentions, but in return, my mother became the target of punches from my father. I grew up into my teens watching it all until I finally told my mother enough was enough, and we needed to leave. This town was the only place where we thought we could hide from that crazy man.

“Hey,” I called Gloria, and she picked up her phone as if she had been waiting for my call, with her phone already in her hand.

“Are you mad at me? If you are, please, I am so, so sorry,” she started rambling, “please forgive me. I will be careful from now on, please.”

“Hey, it’s fine. I just needed some time to relax and clear my mind,” I sighed, walking over to the window and gazing outside. Our apartment was on the top floor, with one bedroom downstairs and a small staircase leading to another bedroom upstairs. The stairs led directly to my room.

“Does that mean we’re still friends?” The fact that she always thought I would just end our friendship at the first sign of trouble showed how chaotic her home life was.

“We are,” I laughed. “Do you know there’s a new mayor who’s taken over?”

My eyes were fixed on the movers in front of the house. There was a tall guy standing near the car, wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts. His leg muscles seemed like somebody had inflated them. He appeared tall and muscular, with slightly long, curly brown hair. He kept gesturing at the guys and directing them until he paused and looked around, raising his head. That’s when his eyes met mine. The blue in his eyes was so striking that I held my breath and instantly ducked, feeling like a creep, I bet.

“Oh yeah! There are four brothers and their parents,” she responded, and I realized I had been caught checking out one of the brothers then.
