The Alpha King’s Mistake by BlackFlame
Chapter 162 (Third Person POV)
As the sun dipped below the horizon, a hush fell upon the night, and the moon began to show its enchanting allure. Harper adorned a long, white dress that gracefully brushed against the floor. She looked beautiful, yet her face held different emotions.
Harper slowly looked around, observing her surroundings. Kesha’s warriors stood resolute, forming a formidable line before the palace, displaying unwavering readiness for the incoming war. Inhaling deeply, she shut her eyes. She was uncertain about what will happen tonight.
She nervously bit her inner l*ips. In just a few minutes, the lunar ecl*ipse will grace the night sky. In the midst of this moment, Harper holds on to a glimmer of hope, yearning for someone to come and save her.
“Zachary, where are you now?” She whispered in the wind.

On the other side, Zachary secretly sneaked inside Kesha’s territory. They were hiding in a corner, waiting for the right time to attack. The witch, vampire, and werewolf warriors were outside waiting for Zachary’s command.
“I spotted her standing on the terrace,” Lance informed him. Zachary swiftly directed his gaze to the location Lance was pointing at. And indeed, she was there. A sense of relief washed over him, knowing she was safe. “Hold on, my love. We’ll reunite soon,” he thought as he stared at her. “The Lunar Ecl*ipse will happen in ten minutes. You should go and inform them. I’ll give you the signal when it’s time to launch an attack,” Zachary told him.
Lance nodded, “Understood. Stay safe, your majesty,” Zachary only nodded and watched him leave. He looked where Harper stood, but she was not there anymore.
“You need to get inside now.” Harper turned around upon hearing Virgo’s voice. He looked cheerful and excited
now. She won’t wonder why. It is clear that he’s happy for his sister. Harper drew a deep breath and nodded in agreement.
“Okay,” she softly replied. Before entering the palace, she cast one last glance over her shoulder. “Please, come and save me, Zachary.”
Once she entered, Virgo led her to a room with no roof, offering a clear view of the sky above. The mesmerising blue moon captivated Harper’s attention. She wondered whether the moon goddess was watching them now. She couldn’t help but question her for allowing something like this to happen.
“Kesha will arrive soon. Lie down there, and if you resist, I’ll have no option but to use force. The decision is yours.” As Harper locked her gaze on him, she discerned his seriousness. The situation is damn serious, leaving her no choice but to nod briefly and comply with his instruction.
Just as she was about to lie down, Kesha arrived, donning a red dress similar to hers. She was wearing a broad smile on her l*ips. She saw Virgo take her hand and k*iss the top of it.
“My dear sister, you will rule the world. I’m happy and always here for you,” Harper nearly rolled her eyes. She will rule if their plan will work. Kesha’s smile grew wider.
“Thank you, brother. I know I can count on you,” she said. Harper’s brow furrowed as she watched their little drama. However, when Kesha caught her gaze, Harper swiftly averted her eyes. She sensed Kesha drawing nearer, and she was now standing in front of her.
Kesha lifted her chin, guiding her to meet her gaze. “In five minutes, you and I will become one,” she declared. I bravely looked into her eyes and smirked, “Don’t be too sure, Kesha. You’re not inside my body yet. Who knows? Perhaps my body will reject you. That would certainly be unfortunate,” she gazed at me but suddenly burst into laughter.
“Harper, dear. Don’t make me laugh. This is not a matter of ‘mates’ that you can refuse. Once the ritual is complete, I will have control over you,” she said, laughing again.
“Anyway, enough with this talking. Lie down, and we’ll wait for the lunar ecl*ipse. You can hope for someone to save you, though I doubt it,” Kesha playfully said and even winked at her before walking away.
Harper tightly pressed her l*ips together, wishing she could end her right now. But her son’s safety matters the most at the moment. She took a deep breath and just lay down.
Gazing at the sky, she noticed the lunar ecl*ipse drawing closer. Her eyes were fluttery shut as she fervently wished for Zachary to hurry and save her.
“Get ready now. The blue lunar ecl*ipse is starting,” Virgo informed. Harper looked at the sky; he was right. Harper closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “My fate rests upon you, our moon goddess,” she whispered. Harper opened her eyes when she felt someone held her hand. She saw Virgo holding a dagger. “Don’t panic; I won’t kill you. I just need to cut your hand,” he quickly said.
Harper only nodded. She saw him slice her palm, causing her blood to flow swiftly downward. He went closer to Kesha and repeated the action. Afterwards, he collected some of their blood and placed it inside a glass jar. He blended their blood in another glass jar. As he looked up at the sky, he noticed the sun almost obscuring the moon, enveloping the whole area in deeper darkness.
“It’s time,” He and Kesha whispered. Virgo nodded and closed his eyes. He started to cast a powerful spell.
While he was casting, Harper gradually felt drowsy, sensing her energy being drained. She couldn’t resist closing her eyes.
The last thing she remembered before losing consciousness was when Virgo poured their blood on something she didn’t know.
As the sun gradually covered the moon, Zacary decided to take action and launch their attack now.
“It’s time, Lance. Attack!” He roared. Everyone outside the palace joined the war. The werewolf warriors transformed into their ferocious werewolf forms. At the same time, the vampire turned into merciless killers. The witches and wizard unleashed their attacks in their own unique ways.
As Kesha’s warriors spot their opponents approaching, they brace themselves to defend and fight back. The war has begun.
“Your majesty, find Harper now! We’ll handle this!” Lance called out. In the midst of the fight, Zachary swiftly killed the rogue vampire and turned to Lance. “Stay alive!” he yelled before running fast.
Anyone who dared to stand in his way met their demise. Upon spotting a witch in the hallway, he grabbed her and strangled her neck.
“Tell me where they are or face death?” He warned. The witch trembled as her eyes widened in fear.
‘TIL. I’ll show you. Just spare my life,” she pleaded. He released her, nodding in agreement. The witch guided him to the place where the ritual is happening.
As he reached for the door, the witch suddenly transformed into her true witch form and launched a surprise attack. But he reacted quickly, holding her hand and forcedly smashing her head against the wall.
The witch let out a pained groan as she attempted to rise but failed. Zachary approached her, “I gave you a chance to live, but you ruined it. Now, just die then,” he said emotionlessly.
The witch only smiled wickedly, “I don’t care. Her majesty will undoubtedly rule the entire world using your mate. Your reign as Alpha king will come to an end,” she said and then burst into sinister laughter. Upon hearing her taunts, Zachary gazed at her. He shook his head, “I won’t allow that. Kesha will never rule this world, not even in her next life. Mark my word,” he declared firmly before ending her life.
After the witch died, he directed his gaze towards the door ahead. He was unsure if they were on the other
side, but he could sense Harper’s presence emanating from within. Taking a deep breath, he made a firm choice to barge in.
Once Virgo completed casting the spell, he laughed hard. “We did it, sister! We did it!” He yelled happily. He saw Kesha and Harper’s blood begin to emit a radiant glow as it traced the pattern on the floor.
He looked up. He saw that the lunar ecl*ipse was nearly over. In just a few minutes, the ritual will end. Kesha will live inside Harper’s body.
He was about to laugh again but abruptly stopped as the door swung open. Shock washed over him when he saw who had entered the room.
“Alpha King…” He murmured. Zachary looked at them and then shifted his gaze to Harper, who was asleep right now. “Damn, Am I too late?” he asked himself.
Upon seeing his arrival, Virgo was taken aback but then realised he had arrived too late. He smirked and moved forward, “You’re too late to stop this Alpha king,” he taunted. Zachary’s brow furrowed, refusing to accept that he was late. He knew he still could do something to stop this.
“If you doubt my words, just look around you,” he said confidently. “The ritual has been done, and the lunar ecl*ipse will end soon,” he added and looked up.
Zachary also gazed at the sky, acknowledging that the person before him was right. Regret began to consume him for not launching his attack later than he should have.
“Do not lose hope. Did you hear him? The lunar ecl*ipse hasn’t ended yet, indicating that the ritual is still in progress,” Zachary heard his wolf say. He looked up in realisation. He was right.
He started to smirk; he knew he still could do something. “I might be late, but it’s not over!” he said. He runs fast towards Harper’s place. He was about to get her, but someone grabbed his hand.
“Not so fast, alpha king,” Virgo said seriously. Virgo’s eyes slowly turn black; he’s a wizard. Does he look like Kesha? Is he related to her?
Zachary removed Virgo’s grip on his hand and stepped back, “No one can stop my sister, not even you, alpha king,” he declared confidently.
“You’re mistaken because I know someone can,” Zachary said. Virgo burst into laughter, “Don’t amuse me, kid You still don’t know how life works. It is unfair, yes, but be with it. Don’t make everything complicated.” Zachary saw Lance, Troy, Lisa, and Queen Louisa enter the room. “Oh no. Zachary! Take Harper’s body from that place now!” Louisa yelled urgently. Zach was about to get Harper, but Virgo stopped him. Lance took action; he went between them.
“Go, I’ll handle him,” Lance told him. Zachary nodded and rushed towards Harper’s place. He was about to reach for her hand when a strong barrier blocked him from t*ouching her.
He was slightly taken aback by what happened. Why he couldn’t t*ouch her now? Suddenly, they heard Virgo’s maniacal laughter.
“I warned you. It’s too late. Kesha has already merged with her body. The ritual was successful!” After he said that, the moon emerged from the shadow, shining once more. The blue lunar ecl*ipse has ended.
All eyes turned towards Kesha and Harper as their body started to levitate. Louisa stared at them, realising it was too late— the ritual had been successfully completed.
Kesha and Harper’s bodies emitted a radiant glow, yet an ominous dark aura surrounded them. Slowly, their bodies returned to their original positions. Harper slowly regains consciousness. Her eyes held no emotion, but then slowly, a smirk adorned her l*ips.
When Harper woke up, she noticed that all she could see was white. Confused, she wondered where she was. As she attempted to move, Harper soon realised she could not do so. Bewildered, she wondered what was happening.
“That’s useless, Harper,” She heard Venice’s familiar voice. Harper noticed a figure approaching her. She looked carefully to recognise who it might be. Her eyes widened in shock as she realised it was herself— in her vampire form.
“Venice was right. You can’t move now because Kesha’s controlling you, us, now,” Wendy said as she appeared. “They were right,” Reenah agreed. A white wolf showed up also, sitting down in front of her. Harper only can stare at them. This feels surreal.
“You must fight back. Don’t let her manipulate us. You’re the only one who can stop her now, Harper,” Wendy seriously told me. Harper inhaled deeply, “I wanted to, but I don’t know how,” she said and looked down. “You’re not a tribrid for nothing; remember that.” A few seconds later, she found herself alone again. Closing her eyes tightly, she took a deep breath. She realised they were right– she wasn’t a tribrid for nothing. Upon reopening her eyes, she was confronted with a disturbing sight— she saw herself choking her own mate, Zachary. Everyone realised that she was no longer Harper but Kesha.
Those who attempted to separate Kesha from Harper’s body faced her wrath. Lisa, who was mocking Kesha a while ago, is now unconscious. And now, Zachary is trying to wake Harper up. He was begging her to come back and be with him again.
“There’s nothing you can do to hinder me now, Zachary. Accept the reality; Harper has abandoned you,” Kesha said, smirking.
Even though he can’t breathe well now, he still manages to smile. Even though he could fight back, he couldn’t harm Harper’s body, knowing she was carrying their son.
“She didn’t abandon me. She’ll come back and put an end to you,” he retorted with a smirk. Kesha glared at him, her grip on his neck tightening.
“Really? Then where is she now? Oh yes, I remember; I’m controlling her body,” Kesha said and laughed. “I don’t want to kill you now, but there’s no fun if I let you live. Don’t worry; I kept your son alive as promised, but… you will die,” Zachary laughed dryly.
“Should I thank you? No, I know Harper can hear me now. I trust her; she will come back.”
“Then die!” Harper heard it all. She wanted to do something, but she didn’t know how. Maybe screaming can help, “No! Kesha, stop this now!” she cried, but nothing happened.
No, she can let Kesha kill the man she loves. She closed her fist tightly, “I need to do something,” Harper murmured and tried to move.
Harper exerted all her strength to move until, one time; she felt a sudden release. Looking up, her eyes widened in shock. It couldn’t be real… Zachary’s body fell to the ground. A dagger was buried deeply in his chest, right through his heart.
She let out a horrified scream, “NO!”
Kesha heard her agony, “This is impossible. How did she awaken so quickly? There’s something—” she couldn’t finish her sentence as Harper forcefully tried to regain control of her body.
“Give me my body back. I told you not to do something that would anger me. I warned you, Kesha!”
Harper roared. Anger filled her heart; She won’t let Kesha succeed.
“You agreed—” Harper cut her off. “No, I never agreed. I’m just protecting them, myself and son!” Kesha laughed sarcastically. “But you failed, Harper. You failed to protect him, your husband.” “Just accept that you’re not capable of protecting someone—”
“I can. And I will. You don’t know me, Kesha,” as Harper said that, she closed her eyes and looked for Kesha’s whereabouts inside her body. And then she found her; Kesha was stunned. She couldn’t believe that Harper found her.
“You hurt him. I won’t hesitate to kill you now,” Harper deadly said. Kesha might be nervous, but she managed to laugh again.
“Come on, Harper, you can’t—’’ She couldn’t finish her sentence because Harper grabbed her neck.
“I know your weakness, Kesha. Once I take control, I’ll burn your body,” she said as she strangled her. “No, you can’t—’’ Harper smirked.
“Well, watch me,” After she said that. She looked directly into Kesha’s eyes.
All of them were confused about what was going on. Harper’s behaviour became pellicular as she tugged her hair while tightly shutting her eyes.
“Harper’s trying to get her body back from Kesha,” Louisa informed them. They all looked at her, “is that true?” Troy asked her. She nodded to confirm.
“Do you hear her, your majesty? Hang in there; Harper will undoubtedly regain her body from Kesha. So, stay alive. Harper might kill you again if you die,” Lance teased him. Zachary’s l*ips slightly rose; he knew Harper will.
Zachary’s condition deteriorated rapidly as he continued o lose blood. The pure silver dagger that Kesha used was preventing him from using his speed-healing ability.
“If I’ll die…” he coughed with blood. “If I die, tell her I love her, and our son,” Lance wanted to smack his head, but he didn’t. Zachary’s talking nonsense. He doesn’t want to face Harper’s wrath if he dies. “She did it. She’s under control now!” Louisa yelled.
Harper managed to control her own body. Kesha screamed at the top of her lungs, saying that Harper should stop or else she would hurt their baby.
“I know you can’t,” Harper replied and looked directly at Kesha’s body. She glanced in his mate’s direction. “I did
it, love. I wanted to embrace you now, but I must finish this first,” She whispered, then proceeded to Kesha’s body.
Despite Kesha’s protest, she was determined to end this war. Tonight, Kesha will die. Using her firepower, she slowly burned her body. Virgo tries to stop her, but she burns him into ashes. “Join your sister in hell.” Harper heard Kesha’s agony inside her as her body was burning.
“No! Harper! You will pay for this!” That was her last word when she finally vanished inside her. A smile slowly formed on her l*ips. It’s over; Kesha’s gone.
She looked back and started to walk towards Zachary’s place. Yet, her smile faded as she noticed the sadness on their face. Looking down, she saw Zachary’s once vibrant face now pale.
She swiftly knelt and cradled him in her arm. “I’m here now. Open your eyes and talk to me,” she demanded. Zachary remained unresponsive, causing her to panic even more. She gently tapped his cheeks and called his name.
“Zachary, if this is a joke, it’s not funny. Come on, open your eyes!” he coughed with blood and weakly opened his eyes. “You…d…did it,” he said hoarsely.
Harper held his hand and pressed it on her l*ips, “Yes, I did it. You must fight too, Zachary. Stay alive. I need you, and our son needs you,” she pleaded, k*issing the top of his hand.
“I’m so… sor.. sorry. I can’t promise anything now,” he paused, coughing up more blood. “I wanted to be with you, with our son, but… I’m getting weaker, love.” Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at him. “Don’t say that. Say that you’ll leave. You promised me, Zach. You and I will be together forever,” she said as she sobbed hard. Zachary was pained to see her in such distress. Weakly, he t*ouched her cheeks and brushed her tears away.
“I’m sorry… I can… can’t fulfil my promise to you. Forgive me,” he murmured with difficulty. Harper’s tears flowed even more.
“Please don’t say that. Hang on, I’ll try to heal you–” Zachary took her and shook his head. “I don’t want you to exhaust yourself. You’ve done enough; it could harm our child. So, please don’t,” he firmly refused.
Harper gazed at him with a sense of helplessness. She couldn’t bear to see him die… Zachary smiled and caressed her hair.
“Always remember that I love you unconditionally. You … you’re the only woman I’ll love for… forever, my mate, my wife, the mother of… of our child. It… it’s just unfortunate that I won’t be… be able to see our child be… being born and growing up,” he said, causing her to cry even more.
With a wistful smile, he drew her closer and tenderly k*issed her l*ips. “Forgive me, my love. I won’t be able to accompany you for the rest of your life,” he whispered softly in her ear. With a final k*iss, he closed his eyes as his hand gently fell to the floor.
