Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee Chapter 119

Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee (Book 2)

Chapter 119 Never Going To Hear Him Call My Name Again (Genevieve Swan)

I watched him writhing in chains, struggling on the bed.

“S*hit!” Bellamy complained under his breath, attempting to avoid my gaze, so none of them had to meet my eyes and convey that Caspian was dying.

“He is dying,” I stated, but they all disregarded me. I knew they were also in pain, but concealing it wouldn’t ease my distress.

“We’ll find a way,” Bellamy whispered, still avoiding eye contact. I was uncertain about how much we could actually do, as witnessing Caspian in this state was agonizing for me.

“I’ll go fetch some fresh fruits,” Wolvin interrupted my daze, gently tapping my shoulder. I wondered how long I had been silently staring at Caspian. “Hmm,” I nodded, uncertain about what effect the fruits would have, “are they important?”

I didn’t want to express it directly, but his departure was causing me to worry. So much was unfolding outside, leading me to believe that the wild wolves were still alive and roaming.

Nonetheless, their sudden appearance was deeply troubling. I had been informed that the war concluded with the eradication of the malevolent forces.

“Fruits will provide him with energy and strength. Don’t give him anything else to eat, even if he pleads for it,” Wolvin advised as he selected some knives from his collection.

“I’ll come with you,” Bellamy informed Wolvin, and the two of them began to prepare to depart. Emre would remain by my side because they were uncertain about the extent of Caspian’s injuries.

I continued to gaze at him, pondering what would unfold next.

“He’s been bitten,” I whispered to myself, holding my breath. Observing him in such excruciating agony was incredibly difficult. I was now sharing in his pain.

With the departure of the other two, I turned to face Emre, who stood in place, his eyes brimming with tears.

“He’s not going to survive, is he?” I disliked posing such a question, but we needed to take some action.

“I don’t know. I’ve never seen one make it through,” Emre’s response shattered my heart. I wanted to collapse to my knees and wail, but I maintained my posture and kept my gaze on Caspian. “But there must be a way,” I insisted, observing Emre shrug and appear bewildered.

“I’m not sure,” his words were dry and quite disconcerting.

Had he even possessed a one percent certainty in his mind, he would have attempted to reassure me that everything would be alright. However, given his uncertainty, I was no longer sure what to believe.

“It’s all my fault. I acted–” I started to say, but I immediately sealed my l*ips when Emre shook his head, cautioning me not to blame myself.

“I’m going to see my mother. Perhaps she knows something-something that could help him,” Emre released a deep breath, breaking free from his frozen state and deciding to rise to his feet to assist his friend.

“Emre! Wait,” I hurried after him into the living room, and only then did he come to a halt.

“Please, tell me if there’s a possibility that we can save him?” I implored, seeking to learn if anyone had ever survived this situation. His failure to even turn toward me left me wondering how overwhelming the uncertainty was. “I honestly don’t know. I just know that nob*ody has ever survived this. There were numerous packs that were attacked by those wild wolves, and they were left with bite marks. Your father would order his guards to kill all the afflicted because they realized there was no cure. However, I will still ask my mother, as she kept a diary where she documented everything my father went through each day. I’m uncertain how much it can assist us, but perhaps we can at least delay the process,” the sadness in his voice, the realization that a permanent cure didn’t exist, shattered my heart.

I watched him turn around, his eyes teary as he looked at me, “Don’t go in there until I’m back.”

He could sense that I wasn’t faring well either. My entire world was trembling at the thought of losing Caspian. Despite his flaws and mistakes, I didn’t wish for him to die like this. Discovering that we had wrongly accused him and that he might be killed due to our actions was something I couldn’t bear.

Emre left the house, and soon it was just Caspian and me.

“This is so wrong. How can I fix this?” I asked myself, pacing from one corner of the living room to another. His groans and moans echoed from the room, punctuated by agonizing cries whenever intense pain struck him. “Perhaps Dad knows something about how to help him? Maybe Monique can use her magic–” I trailed off, realizing the likelihood of that was slim. Emre had mentioned that my father had previously ordered the death of all afflicted patients, making me wonder if he’d do the same for Caspian.

It appeared that he would indeed take that route. So seeking help from my father seemed futile.

“Should I message his father?” A thought crossed my mind as I considered Caspian’s family. His father would undoubtedly be devastated by the news.

Caspian had told me about their lost sister, so the thought of them losing a son now was heart-wrenching. I was torn, unsure of what course of action to take. Could appealing to his father for help lead to finding a solution to save him?

While I contemplated these options, I heard Caspian call my name from the other room.

“Gen!”

My b*ody felt as if it had turned to dust in an instant.

It was then that the realization hit me: after today, I might never hear him call for me again.

I walked over to the door and observed him from the doorway. He was sobbing in pain, his gaze locked onto me, his eyes pleading for me to free him from his chains. In those brief moments, I made up my mind that I would go to extreme lengths to save him.
