Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee (Book 3)
Chapter 156 Hate Losing My Loved Ones (Bellamy Holmes)
“Dad, what’s going on? Where is Mommy?” Ariel smiled hysterically as she broke the hug to ask her crying father. He was crying loudly, shaking his head and grunting, unable to form a coherent sentence.
“Dad,” she placed her hands on his shoulders to ask again, and I felt my breath quickening.
“Beta Brian, what happened? Why are you crying?” Although I was terrified to ask him that question, I couldn’t stop myself. I knew that ignorance could be bliss, but sometimes knowing the truth is more important because I couldn’t live with uncertainty forever.
Beta Brian turned to me, and tears welled up in his eyes even more.

“Oh, you poor little things,” he mumbled, dropping back and sitting on the ground with his knees raised to his chest. I knew it was extremely bad.
“I don’t get it. Why are you crying?” Ariel continued to ask her father, while I ran towards the exit where the guards would be stationed.
“Alpha Bellamy,” the guard greeted me with a feeble smile, but he extended his arm to indicate that I couldn’t leave the mansion.
This was unprecedented. Whatever was transpiring outside had to be grave. “Where’s my dad? Why is Beta Brian crying like that?” I continued to press him, attempting to make eye contact. However, each time I demanded it, he averted his gaze.
“Tell me, I demand answers!” Unable to tolerate it any longer, my voice cracked as I raised it.
That’s when I spotted my father entering through the main gate. He was accompanied by many of his warriors, who were ensuring he didn’t collapse. His condition indicated that he had endured some serious ordeal.
Breaking through the guards’ restrictions, I rushed past them and landed in my father’s arms. The moment he spotted me, he too halted and knelt down to embrace me.
That hug was filled with warmth, but it also carried a profound sense of heartbreak that would stay with me forever.
“Dad, where is mom?” I hated to pose that question at such a moment, but there was no one else to ask, and no one else who could provide an answer. Ariel and her father had followed us outside, and the emotions in her father’s eyes astonished me. It was as though he wanted to ask my father the same question, “Where is his daughter’s mother?”
“Let’s go inside, and we’ll talk,” my dad said, his voice trembling as he wiped away his tears.
“Dad, please tell me she’s coming home tonight?” I insisted, but he rose and took my h*and gently, leading me back into the mansion and into the living room where he seated me and knelt before me. “I didn’t expect to have this conversation with you so soon, but life is sometimes very bitter. There are things that nobody can comprehend. I’m sure you already know that nothing in life lasts forever, not even your loved ones,” he said, his voice breaking as he paused briefly to cry softly. “Just understand that everything we did, we did it for you and for our pack members. I’m going to tell you something that might be very painful, but it’s the truth,” he continued, gently rubbing my elbow with his warm h*and. “Your mother was the best Luna an alpha could wish for, both for himself and for his pack.”
The use of the past tense nearly took my breath away. Even when swallowing, I felt a lump forming in my throat.
“Why are you using the past tense?” I knew something was amiss, but I hoped he might amend his statement somewhat.
“Something happened when your mother was on her way home,” Dad continued in a hushed tone, tears welling up in his eyes as he struggled to remain composed for my sake.
“Is Mom okay?” I knew I was starting to sound like a broken record, but all the secrecy surrounding her was slowly wearing me down.
“Some evil monster attacked your mother’s car and… killed her,” as soon as he finished the sentence, I lost my balance. I stumbled, but he caught me by my arms, immediately pulling me into a hug.
“No! You’re lying, right? Is this some plan you two came up with to surprise me with her pregnancy? Did you tell her I already knew?” I started shaking my head and tried to wriggle out of his embrace.
There was no way he could be telling the truth. Mom had made plans with me for this weekend. There was no way the Moon Goddess would take her away from me like this.
“It’s the truth. Your mother is no longer with us,” Dad confirmed as he broke down, no longer concealing his pain.
“I don’t believe you. You’re just–wait! Did I do something wrong? Am I being punished?” I couldn’t help but ask that question. I had heard of kids getting punished, and maybe I had messed up too.
“No! You would never do anything wrong. And your mother would never punish you. That monster punished her out of frustration and then set her car on fire,” Dad continued to cry, and then… I no longer felt like there was a lie or an excuse.
“I want my mom back,” I broke down, collapsing in my father’s arms.
Something inside me had switched, and I just couldn’t hold my body up any longer. “Mom!” I cried out, my knees giving way, and I kept collapsing to the ground. My dad held me up for a few moments as I yelled and screamed, until he realized I could no longer stand.
“Fetch the pack’s doctor!” my father’s agonized shouts reverberated throughout the mansion as I slowly succumbed to darkness.
My heart felt like it had lost all hope, and my body had been drained of its strength. Our lives had been turned upside down because of a deranged monster.
Nothing remained the same after that day. I wasn’t the same either. Losing my mother and my ability to move only compounded the agony for my father. In our moment of helplessness, we also failed to obtain justice.
