Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee
Chapter 35 She Is The New Accepted Mate. (Genevieve Swan)
I took my seat at the dinner table, observing as the maids arranged the dishes with smiles. Monique was nowhere to be seen, which struck me as odd. I looked around and even attempted to ask the maids, but no one responded.
Wolvin had to remove his shoes before entering the dining room, while the others walked around with dirty footwear. Despite the dirt on their shoes, my father seemed to harbor a dislike for Wolvin simply because he didn’t belong to a well-known pack.
“I am so delighted to have all of you here with me tonight,” Dad beamed, adjusting his hair. It was only then that I noticed how well-groomed he appeared. He had even dyed his hair and donned a new suit.
He seemed to be wearing l*ip balm as well, something he had never done before. His skin used to be rough, and his l*ips cracked. But tonight was different. It was clearly a special occasion for him.

Was he genuinely that happy to see me?
Perhaps he had missed me greatly. These thoughts swirled in my mind as I watched my father waiting for the maids to pour the expensive wine for everyone. However, I did notice him wrinkle his nose when the maid filled Wolvin’s glass, which he downed without waiting for anyone.
“Genevieve,” my father suddenly called out to me. “Have you not taught him how we behave during dinner?” The closed-lipped smile he gave me caused me to straighten my back and instantly look down.
“That barbarian doesn’t know any better,” Caspian commented, elbowing Wolvin, who set down the glass and took the wine bottle to fill another glass himself.
I continued to observe my father, who glared angrily at Wolvin. It was clear that sitting at the same table as Wolvin was akin to my father’s demise.
“Anyway, I wanted to propose a toast for someone very special and dear to my heart tonight,” as my father introduced me in such a manner, I noticed my mates exchanging glances. At least now they would realize that they should not mess with the alpha king’s beloved daughter.
The more love my father showed towards me, the better they would behave with me.
I smiled at my dad, preparing to lower my h*ead when he called my name. “Monique! My darling, come out,” the way his tone changed and she emerged from a side room, I felt my entire existence tremble.
The once wide smile on my l*ips withered away at the sight of her. She was wearing a blue gown from my mother’s closet and her jewelry. It felt as though the sky had fallen upon me, extinguishing my life.
She walked out and took my father’s h*and before sitting beside him. She looked completely different from how she used to be when I was unmarried. Now, she resembled a queen, adorned with my mother’s diamond crown.
I couldn’t comprehend what I was witnessing. Why did my father introduce her like that? And why was she allowed to use my mother’s closet when I wasn’t even permitted to t*ouch her belongings?
“After my mate died, I felt lonely. It wasn’t easy for me to live all these years alone. I would wake up at night, missing Shiloh. But then Monique began to take care of me. She even took my daughter under her wing and molded her into the beautiful and stunning lady she is today. Monique made me realize that if anyone can fill Shiloh’s place, it is her,” he declared, making the announcement have an even greater impact when he raised his glass and said, “Cheers to my newly accepted mate and legal wife.”
As they raised their glasses to toast the newlyweds, I lowered my h*ead and covered my face with my h*ands. Distant whispers began to echo in my ears, causing me distress.
At that moment, all I could recall were the echoes of my mother’s cries. I didn’t know their source, but they were there. She was not content in this grand mansion.
As the days went by, her health deteriorated. I vividly remember wanting to hold onto her sweaters and gowns, cherishing her scent after her passing. But they didn’t allow me to do so.
“Genevieve! We’re waiting,” my dad called for me, but I didn’t respond to him.
The awkward silence persisted as I lifted my h*ead and looked at Monique, tears of disappointment filling my eyes. Seeing me upset seemed to change her mood. Did she truly expect me to accept her with open arms?
They did everything without informing me, even giving her my mother’s clothes. And now they wanted to include me in their happiness.
“I’m sorry… I’m not feeling well,” I stood up from my seat, panicking as I adjusted my dress.
“Genevieve! Sit down. That’s not very nice. You’re upsetting Monique with your reaction,” Dad sounded upset and even angry, but it was all too much for me.
Shaking my h*ead, I refused to stay any longer. It wasn’t easy for me to accept what they had done without even informing me.
Was this why they had dumped me on these egotistical men? Because they wanted to start their new life? The least they could have done was be honest with me.
“I’m not fe… feeling well,” I repeated myself, glancing at my mates who disapproved of me, disappointed that I had ruined my father’s moment.
Instead of waiting any longer, I swiftly rose to my feet and began sprinting towards the exit.
“We’re so sorry. She hasn’t been eating well… and she’s been complaining of stomach aches,” Emre made one last attempt before all my mates left their seats to chase after me.
Now that I had left the mansion, they had to follow me, or else my father would question their loyalty to the contract.
I hadn’t walked far on the road when Caspian matched my pace and grabbed my arm, forcefully turning me around. I nearly tripped but managed to maintain my balance with his support.
“Do you always have to act like a diva?” he yelled, shaking my body in anger. “Let’s get her back in order and return. I’m not skipping that dinner,” Bellamy shouted from a distance, warning Caspian to make sure I rejoined the dinner in a better mood before he lost his patience with me.
