Tossed Between Her Defiant Mates By Alexis Dee
Chapter 74 One Of Them Is Not Interested (Genevieve Swan)
While they were outside, I had some free time to chat with Wolvin, who had stepped out of the kitchen with a dry loaf of bread that he was munching on. “Ahem!” I cleared my t*hroat and smiled at him, signaling that I wanted to have a conversation. He didn’t even smile back and plopped down on the couch, stretching his l*egs out to rest them on the central table as he turned on the TV.
“It looks like someone is really lucky to have you. You must truly love her,” my foolish self initiated the conversation, desperately wanting to know if he was single. I had a feeling he might have made a promise to someone, which is why he wasn’t attracted to me.
“No,” he replied in a dry manner, which only confused me more. What did he mean by that? Knowing he was a bit straightforward and not great at picking up hints, I felt at ease asking him questions, without worrying that he would see through my real motive of being nosy.
“So, she’s not lucky?” I joked, and he just shrugged.

I swear I wanted to turn off the TV and snatch the bread out of his hands, just so he could pay attention to the conversation and not annoy me. “Hmm,” I nodded, feeling the need to respond somehow.
“Why did you sign that pact?” he asked without looking my way. It was a good opening for a conversation, as that particular incident had sparked my curiosity about him.
“Why not?” I countered, trying to sound playful, but the seriousness on his face threw me off.
“I mean; I could ask you the same question. Why didn’t you sign?” I added, attempting to maintain a lighthearted tone, but the gravity on his expression kept me on edge.
“Because it’s a stupid deal,” he responded, and my heart flipped inside my chest. It was true that I also felt the deal was less than ideal, but hearing someone else say the same thing upset me even more.
“I mean, it’s only fair that they have two options too,” I tried to excuse my foolishness by agreeing to the deal.
“Fated mates! You should have told them they could only choose a girl who’s their fated or second chance mate. You know that a second chance mate is not a chosen mate. It would be fair if they followed the same rules they imposed on you,” he murmured, finishing the bread and turning his head towards me. I was lost in my thoughts, slowly realizing the gravity of what I had done.
“Then why didn’t you want to be a part of it?” I dropped the pretense of joking and asked with genuine curiosity about his reasons.
“Because I didn’t want to,” he replied plainly. “You needed their help to find out more about your mother’s demise, and they needed your help with certain things. As for me, I’m already getting what I wanted from this contract,” he shrugged, his eyes fixed on my face, probably wondering how I would respond.
I didn’t intend to say it, but it slipped out of my l*ips, “And you don’t want anything else?” As I posed that question, I noticed him narrowing his eyes at me.
“What else do you want me to ask for?” he said with a little smirk on his l*ips, intensifying the eye contact, sending shivers down my spine. I quickly turned my head to the other side to break the gaze.
He didn’t even want to be part of the deal. It wasn’t as if he had any inclination to join and have a moment with me.
It suddenly dawned on me that he wasn’t interested at all, and I should stop pursuing this. After all, I already had three mates. Why was I so fixated on having him join too? Besides, I had already signed the pact, so this conversation with him was pointless.
Taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh, I shifted my attention back to the TV, but it seemed like Wolvin wasn’t finished yet.
“You do know they don’t intend to take you to their packs and homes, right?” he stated, making me flinch a little. “Why not?” I turned to him, demanding an explanation for his comment.
“Why don’t you wait for them to come back and let you know themselves?” he said in a cheery tone, seeming eager for this conversation to unfold.
“You’re acting like you’re certain they will come back to tell me they can’t take me along,” I smiled weakly, hoping that wouldn’t be the case. I was starting to feel as if Wolvin was eagerly awaiting the outcome of this pact just to gloat about it.
“Just wait and watch,” he shrugged, turning his attention back to the TV. Now, I was anxiously waiting for their return, and one thing was bothering me. We had agreed not to hide anything from each other, so why didn’t they include me in this meeting?
Had I made a mistake by agreeing to this pact? With concerns swirling in my mind and as I waited for their arrival, they finally showed up.
The three of them seemed engrossed in a deep conversation, stealing glances and looking around before Bellamy finally stood before the TV and made an announcement.
“So, we are going to my pack in the morning,” Bellamy’s words brought a huge smile to my l*ips, and before I could celebrate, I turned to Wolvin, wanting to give him a prideful glance to show him he was mistaken.
“I am so happy!” I clapped my hands and got up, seeing everyone else also looking elated, while Wolvin started snickering, capturing my attention as the others got busy ordering food. “What? Are you laughing at yourself for being so wrong?” I whispered, approaching him to make a remark.
“No! I’m just very intrigued to see how it plays out,” his comment once again left me feeling bewildered. The confident smirk he was displaying made me uneasy. It felt like he knew something that I wasn’t aware of, and that thought sent a shiver down my spine.
